Since the new update, I haven't spent much time just playing regularly. The other day I did, and I was noticing pretty bad FPS drop in general. When I disable the GUI I got a massive FPS Increase. Maybe that's due the fact the the GUI system doesn't have GPU acceleration yet, but I wanted to ask you guys how much FPS you get by disabling the UI. -Fire Up BeamNG and select Dry Rock Island. -Keep the truck and view as they are. Press CTRL+F and take a screenshot. -Then disable the GUI (Shift+U) and take another screenshot. -Post here. Here' s my result: 1920x1080 - Default settings in Option - 16x AF - 2X AA - High SSAO - No DOF GUI ON GUI OFF So, for me the GUI eats up almost 10FPS (It gets up to 15FPS on puregrid). It isn't such a huge problem here, as I still achieve playable rates, but for people running on 'potatoes' it may be a problem. I think it's something that should get some priority on the To-Do list.
Interesting. I play on a "potato" laptop (Still notably more powerful than your average laptop) and the FPS difference actually isn't as large for me. I gain roughly 2-3 FPS by turning the GUI off.
i play on a cyberpower gaming PC on the old version i was getting like 100 somthing FPS now im getting like 18
*sees no beamng badge*, Okay I am confused because if you play the demo the FPS shouldn't have changed. and if you pirated this game, please give the devs the money and go buy the game. don't be an AwesomeSauce.
Hmm this is also a really big problem for me, I go from 130fps to 175fps when turning off the ui on gridmap.
Am i the only one Who Tried this and i get Not even the slightest fps boost? Why is everyone else having this issue
No issue here: WithGUI: 39.5 fps WithoutGUI: 39.3 fps So there is no difference for me, you can pretty much ignore any difference within 1fps on my machine since it fluctuates +/- 0.5fps pretty rapidly. But my GUI is not very populated which could be a good reason why. I shall do further tests. EDIT: More populated GUI: 38.1 fps The frame rate varies even more like this +/-1fps. I think it is a significant difference. So yeah, the GUI does have an FPS impact if you enable many things such as graphs. But i guess that is kind of something to expect when you overlay graphs that update in real time. But im not sure how big a difference that should make. MOAR editing Well i decided to populate all of the things and the fps did not drop. As in it stayed about the same but became pretty stable at around +/-0.2fps. So i think the stability of the frame rate is probably un important. All of the things GUI: 38.1 fps (i will admit i timed this shot to get the exact same fps, but it is still representative) Dat GUI though.
i dont get impacted either on/off edit: Actually I do... with two cars i get 99-110 with it on and 124-130 without it and I have four light weight apps on Okay so the more apps I take away the better it is... taking away the tacho I seen about 5-10fps increase for example. - - - Updated - - - just pointing it out but wouldn't grid pure small be the best place to test gui fps impacts Just - - - Updated - - - With apps 189-200 Without [GUI Disabled] 268-283 [that truck is the one I'm am working on that I happen to be testing] I was getting high fps because apparently my truck had spawn the default with no wheels lol.
the problem with the gui is that the rendering is at the moment not hardware acclerated. Hopefully this will change in the future and then the fps-difference will be way smaller
