HDD Not Working (Need Help)

    Completely? There is no way to get it to work? (I don't have any data on it so formatting etc. isn't a problem)

    Not entirely sure, but I think HDD are much repair-able.
    The sounds it make is surely not normal, and if you say no PC recognizes it, it's probably something inside that went RIP.

    Is it possible it's the SATA cable, since it's quite an old one? I don't have any new ones, but tomorrow or so I will take one out of my main PC and check.

    Never say never, but I doubt a faulty cable can be the cause of those noises.

    Me neither, but I don't want to open up a HDD and then it turns out to be something as simple as a cable! ;)

    Don't open the hard drive. A speck of dust could ruin the drive, plus it would instantly void any warranties.

    they aren't really user serviceable. Consider it dead if a new cable doesn't work
