    Hi everyone,

I'm working on creating my own vehicle mod for BeamNG.drive, but I'm struggling with the JBeam files. I understand the basics of how JBeam defines the vehicle's structure, but I need help setting up everything correctly.

    Here are my main questions:
    1. File Structure: What are the essential files a custom vehicle needs? I want to make sure my setup is correct.
    2. Nodes and Beams: How do I properly define nodes and beams to keep the structure stable while maintaining realistic deformation?
    3. Collision and Weight Distribution: How can I ensure my vehicle’s weight is balanced and that collision behaves realistically?
    4. Suspension and Wheels: What’s the best way to set up suspension components in JBeam? Should I reference existing vehicles?
    5. Debugging Issues: If my vehicle isn’t behaving correctly (e.g., floating, sinking, or acting unstable), what are the best tools or methods to debug it?
I’d really appreciate any guides, tips, or examples from experienced modders. If you have any good JBeam references or templates that might help, I’d love to check them out!

Thanks in advance for your help!

If this is your first vehicle mod, i would recommend not doing your jbeam from scratch. The easiest way to do it is to just copy a jbeam from one of the vanilla cars and just change the shape of the collisions to suit your mesh. You would also learn how the jbeam is structured through doing that.

If you do want to do it completely from scratch anyway, you will probably want to watch a couple tutorials or something. Have you read through the documentation?
