To be fair, we shouldn't really look at the styling, but at the construction, in order to determine the basis.

The Covet is a (sub)compact, front transverse engine, front 2-wishbone, rear multilink suspension, OHC-only car - just like the 80s/90s Honda Civic.

And the production years are the closest to an EF Civic.
