MOD: https://www.beamng.com/resources/home-alone-oh-kay-and-airport-vans.24979 Here is a mod I decided to make that replicates the various paint designs of the vans seen throughout Home Alone and Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. It includes the "Oh-Kay" van, in both a clean and dirty variant, as well as both airport shuttle vans: The Airport Express, and the Miami Airport Express. Enjoy! NOTE: The dirty "Oh-Kay" skin will look weird when using the "Extended" frame option. The skin is not suited for the extended frame, and results in some parts of the skin being too short. Thanks to BNGF Plus (BeamNG-FUN) and Top Tier Studios for the YouTube tutorial on how to make a skin for a BeamNG mod. It was very helpful, since this is my first skin I've ever made for the game
Funnily enough, the hardest part of creating the skin was the greyish blue colour... took me about 50 tries to get it right since the colour would look different in-game than in the editor lol...
I exported it using BC1 (sRGB, DX 10+). The colours look okay, it was just that sometimes the lighting in-game would make the colors look a bit off (like in direct sunlight or in shadows). It just took some tweaking and eventually I ended up with a colour I that liked and thought looked close enough to the one from the movie
Ah ok. BC7 sRGB is recommended for all textures except normals (BC5, Linear Unsigned), but I think it still looks really nice!!
That's a good idea! I forgot there was another van in the movie that had a paint design that could be a mod! I'll try and see what I can do
It would be better if Express to the Airport was included in this mod, I see no reason to make it separate.
Yea, that's what I would do. That way it's easier to find both of them --- Post updated --- I've completed the Airport Express skin, and I'm just waiting on an approval. The fonts might look a bit weird, but I'm hoping to find different fonts that are more similar, and fix them later. Oh, and by the way, I used BC7 sRGB for the new Airport Express skin, thanks again for the tip!
To be honest, I was never going to use modded parts, since I have no experience whatsoever with actual modeling/jbeam, I just wanted to make a skin for the H-Series,. The only problem was that the H-Series is a bit too new for the vans from the movie (the vans from the movie are from 1986), but for me, it was close enough in shape and looks to create a skin... --- Post updated --- Also, this might be a dumb question, but does anyone know why the in-game repository doesn't show updated icons and descriptions?
