I want to add memory to beamng so beamng runs a little smoother

Re: How do you add more ram(or memory) to beamng

    1. Turn computer off completely, and open it up.
    2. Locate RAM slot(s) on motherboard.
    3. Latch the safety clip open on slot on 1 or both sides, depending on if both have clips or not.
    4. Insert RAM in the slot with the notch in the stick corresponding with the notch in the slot.
    5. Push down, to where it clicks on both sides.
    6. Close, turn on PC.

    That's installation.
    To buy it:

Go online to Newegg or Amazon.
Know what kind of RAM your motherboard supports. If you don't, look it up easily online.
Buy a single stick or a kit of RAM that is compatible.

    Do you mean your computer?

If BNG isn't getting enough, hit CTRL+SHIFT+ESC and end some processes THAT ARE NOT REQUIRED. It should free up some memory.

Allocating more memory to something generally doesn't make if faster. 9 times out of 10, doing that just makes things even more inefficient.

only if it wasn't given enough ram in the first place, otherwise it makes it stutter and lag

minecraft with mods tends to benefit from 4gb of allocated ram,and who plays minecraft without them:D.

But to stay ontopic, this wouldnt help your performance at all. look wether some windows settings limiting the performance of your pc are activated. Might help at least a littlebit

i run 200+ mods and never need more then 2gb of ram

    on-topic:

@OP adding ram won't help performance at all, your limit is most likley your cpu if your having performance problems

Actually, putting any more than 2-2.5 gigs into Minecraft can absolutely cripple framerates. That's why youtubers with godlike computers get mediocre FPS, because they put 16+ gigs into Minecraft.

    Then there's me
    >Allocates 10GB to Minecraft
    >80fps with full chunk distance

    >Allocates default memory to Minecraft
    >Game crashes

Unless you are allocating enough memory that your computer is deprived of memory, this should never happen.

Anyways off the topic of Minecraft, the reason BeamNG is going so slow is either
    -Graphics card
    -CPU

BeamNG takes some pretty good hardware to run. What are your specs?

so getting a new cpu would make beamng run faster than getting a new graphics card right?

There is some truth to the minecraft RAM issue. Certain systems (x64 or x86, AMD or Intel, Nvidia or AMD. No reason to it yet) get messed up running more than 1.5-2.5GB RAM allocated to it. Most extreme case I've seen was a 780 and 4930k freaking out if he allocated more than 6GB of RAM in a 32GB machine. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Also, unmodded minecraft should run fine on 256mb RAM allocated on versions earlier than 1.3 (before the new world format), 0.5GB earlier than 1.6, and 1.0GB on 1.7.x. 1.8 is less predictable with the multithreading and weird water code, but I see clear increases to 2.5GB. Modded acts weird regardless. I've got 8GB so I allocate 4.

In theory it could if your GPU is decent enough, however a new CPU could mean you need a new motherboard and new ram depending on what you decide to get.
