Just curious as to how big of a deal it is. Will it make creating vehicles significantly easier? And if so, would this also mean that meshslaps will be easier to touch up if you want to actually make it decent?
it makes laying out the basic n/b structure easier, but it does nothing for fine tuning the rigidity of said structure. it basically speeds up the most tedious part of jbeam work, but it doesn't negate technical skill.
How did you have to do jbeams before? Did nodes and beams have to have their positions manually typed in or something?
I think so but now you can auto generate basic structure based off 3d? and then you must edit properties and fix placements i think.
The plugin actually has been released as early as it possibly could be, since its about time we get an official editor Its still in the early stages of development. Next thing will be importing full vehicles, just like loading in a vehicle into the game, so you can easily see how different parts are connected to each other. This means translating of our Lua vehicle loader into Python as Blender runs in Python. So it might just take a while And after that will be integrating a text editor with Blender for similar useful capabilities like in NBE.
