Re: Tutorial: How to add thrusters/booster/NOS to cars via LUA/Scripting I know this thread is a bit old, but thank you so much. Thrusters are so fun. I made this video showing them off :3
Re: Tutorial: How to add thrusters/booster/NOS to cars via LUA/Scripting Doesn't work for me for some reason. I tried the included file and doing it manually, no go.
Re: Tutorial: How to add thrusters/booster/NOS to cars via LUA/Scripting Thanks for this! It's definitely a great way to get into some shenanigans It took me a little while to fully grasp everything, but once I did it seemed really easy ^^ So you might be asking..."What pray tell did he do with this newfound knowledge?" well......I turned DrowsySam's 10 tonne ball into a "controllable" ball of death..............with extra quotes around "controllable", lol.....but still...it's fun to tool around with! I added 4 thrusters...2 at the sides, 1 at top, and 1 at bottom. I might get video of it one day...but right now all I have is this picture.
Re: Tutorial: How to add thrusters/booster/NOS to cars via LUA/Scripting What have I done wrong that I can't get thrusters to work?
Re: Tutorial: How to add thrusters/booster/NOS to cars via LUA/Scripting I'm very much a noob but I can "try" to help >.< for the zip file, you need to make sure you extract it to the correct folder...unfortunately I saved my BeamNG to a different folder so I don't know where it installs by default, but I'm assuming you know where that is though so extract it to the "Vehicles" folder. It should ask you to merge a bunch of folders so say yes to all of those, then it should ask to overwrite a bunch of .jbeam files, you have to say yes to those. That should be all there is to it for the zip...ingame I think it's "T" and "G" for forward and backward thrusters. for me, I had to spawn my vehicle of choice using default vehicle first, then it worked for the other models of that vehicle (e.g. I spawned the Ibishu Covet default first, then it worked for the other covet models). I did have my game open when I installed my thrusters too....but I installed it manually. Sorry I can't really help you more....If I weren't such a noob I might be able to but I just barely grasp it myself.... it took me like and hour and a half to get those thrusters working on the ball, lol.
Re: Tutorial: How to add thrusters/booster/NOS to cars via LUA/Scripting I appreciate it. I'm very Windows literate and I know where all the files are and I copied the files in the .zip to the correct vehicle folder but it just doesn't work. Best way to find where the game is installed is right click your desktop game shortcut, click properties, open file location. Default install location is: C:\Users\MYUSERNAME\AppData\Local\BeamNG\BeamNG.drive
Re: Tutorial: How to add thrusters/booster/NOS to cars via LUA/Scripting actually, the best would be to use the "Open Folder" shortcut that the installer makes: which opens the install directory in windows explorer, meaning even less clicks
Re: Tutorial: How to add thrusters/booster/NOS to cars via LUA/Scripting Does Windows 7 have that feature?
Re: Tutorial: How to add thrusters/booster/NOS to cars via LUA/Scripting ahh ok, I keep all my more important stuff (most software, music, pictures) in my C:\ but all my non steam games have a special folder in my Z:\ ...lol...I always wanted an odd lettered harddrive so when I finally got my second one I couldn't resist! XD about the thrusters not working though. Is it possible you have another mod installed that's bound to G or H causing an input conflict? Perhaps you can try changing the keybind to something else? Other than that, I'm unfortunately fresh out of ideas. :-\
Re: Tutorial: How to add thrusters/booster/NOS to cars via LUA/Scripting if your talking about the search thingy, not in the way you see it on my screen, windows 7 has it in the start menu, if your talking about the open folder shortcut, that's not a windows feature, the beamng installer creates that shortcut, for easier access to the beamng drive root folder, since that's where all mods install
Re: Tutorial: How to add thrusters/booster/NOS to cars via LUA/Scripting I have tried that yes. I've checked the jbeams to make sure they're correct also. Idk, but thanks for trying. Um....my installer created only one desktop icon and that's for the launcher. Unless it puts it somewhere else?
Re: Tutorial: How to add thrusters/booster/NOS to cars via LUA/Scripting look in the start menu, try using the windows 7 search bar thingy that's in the start menu if you cant find it
Re: Tutorial: How to add thrusters/booster/NOS to cars via LUA/Scripting I need some help, I don't think this works after the update. Or I am just doing something wrong, can someone help me? :3
Re: Tutorial: How to add thrusters/booster/NOS to cars via LUA/Scripting It does work, but its a bit fucky. I put the letter that activates the thruster as uppercase (ex. T). also, make sure your caps lock is off. If i put caps lock on the thrusters don't start. Maybe if you put the letter to activate the thrusters as lowercase you would need to have caps lock on? I don't know, lol. It doesn't make too much sense to me. The moonhawk jbeam i attached has working thrusters. Just open it in notepad++ and ctrl+f "thruster" to find the thrusters section
Re: Tutorial: How to add thrusters/booster/NOS to cars via LUA/Scripting Thanks, I'll let you know if it works. - - - Updated - - - ok, it kinda works.. All it does it push the right half of the car down towards the ground...
Re: Tutorial: How to add thrusters/booster/NOS to cars via LUA/Scripting well yeah, i made that specifically to flip the car back onto its wheels when it rolls so i can keep driving it. Y and T push down separate sides of the car
Re: Tutorial: How to add thrusters/booster/NOS to cars via LUA/Scripting - - - Updated - - - so how can I rotate them? (sorry I'm such a n00b)
Re: Tutorial: How to add thrusters/booster/NOS to cars via LUA/Scripting oh. Did you read the OP? he explains it all.
Re: Tutorial: How to add thrusters/booster/NOS to cars via LUA/Scripting ah, well I guess I'll go read it again.
