The last thing you want is to realize mid-build that you’re missing a crucial part. - Essential Components • CPU (Central Processing Unit) – The brain of the system • Motherboard – The foundation that connects all components • RAM (Memory) – Crucial for system speed and multitasking • GPU (Graphics Card) – Essential for gaming and creative workloads • SSD (Storage) – Holds the operating system and files • Power Supply (PSU) – Provides power to all components • CPU Cooler – Keeps the CPU from overheating (air or liquid cooling) • Case – Houses all components • Cooling Fans – Ensures proper airflow and heat dissipation Additional fans, RGB lighting, and custom cooling solutions can be added depending on personal preference. Once all components are verified, grab a Phillips screwdriver and consider wearing anti-static gloves to prevent damage from static electricity. ---------------------- Installing the CPU – The First Step Start by placing the motherboard on a flat, non-static surface. In the center, you’ll find the CPU socket, which is where the processor will be installed. Next to the CPU socket, there’s a metal retention lever. Gently lift this lever to open the socket cover. Be careful not to use excessive force, as the mechanism is delicate. When handling the CPU, only hold it by the edges and avoid touching the gold contact pins. You’ll notice a small triangle on one corner of the CPU—this should be aligned with the triangle on the socket. Carefully place the CPU into the socket without applying pressure. It should sit naturally in place. Once the CPU is aligned properly, lower the retention lever back down to secure it. You may feel some resistance, but this is normal. The CPU should now be firmly locked in place. -------------------- Installing the CPU Cooler – Keeping Temperatures in Check If the CPU overheats, the system can shut down almost instantly, so installing the CPU cooler is crucial. - Installing an Air Cooler 1. Apply thermal paste – Squeeze the thermal paste in the middle of the CPU about the size of a pea. If it's in the cooler in advance, wipe it off with toilet paper. 2. Align the cooler – Position it over the CPU and align it with the mounting holes. 3. Secure with screws – Tighten the cooler evenly in a cross pattern to ensure proper contact. 4. Connect the fan cable – Plug the cooler’s fan into the motherboard’s ‘CPU_FAN’ header. - Installing an AIO Liquid Cooler 1. Apply thermal paste – Squeeze the thermal paste in the middle of the CPU about the size of a pea. If it's in the cooler in advance, wipe it off with toilet paper. 2. Decide radiator placement – Typically mounted on the case’s top or front panel. 3. Mount the pump – Place it on the CPU and secure it with the included bracket and screws. 4. Attach fans to the radiator – Ensure airflow direction is optimized for cooling. 5. Connect cables – Plug in the pump and fan cables to the appropriate motherboard headers. Proper installation ensures stable temperatures and optimal performance. ----------------------- Installing RAM – Boosting System Performance RAM slots are located near the CPU on the motherboard. First, push the plastic clips on both sides outward to open the slot. Align the RAM stick with the notch on the slot and gently press down on both sides. You should hear a “click” soundas it locks in place. If it doesn’t click, check the alignment and try again. Some motherboards have preferred slots for dual-channel memory configurations, so refer to the motherboard manual to install the RAM in the correct slots for maximum performance. ---------------------------- Installing the M.2 SSD – Blazing Fast Storage M.2 SSDs are much faster than SATA SSDs and plug directly into the motherboard. 1. Locate the M.2 slot – Typically labeled ‘M.2’ on the motherboard. 2. Insert the SSD at a 30-45 degree angle – Do not force it in. 3. Secure it with a screw – Gently press the SSD down and fasten it with the small retention screw. Avoid overtightening the screw, as it could damage the SSD. ---------------------------- Mounting the Motherboard in the Case Now that the motherboard is assembled, it’s time to place it inside the case. First, check if the standoff screws inside the case are correctly positioned to match the motherboard’s size. Once aligned, carefully place the motherboard inside the case and secure it using screws. !Tip: Avoid overtightening the screws, as this could damage the motherboard. -------------------------- Installing the Power Supply – The Heart of the System The power supply is usually installed at the bottom or top of the case, depending on the case design. 1. Position the PSU – Ensure the fan is facing the correct direction for airflow. 2. Secure it with screws – Attach it firmly to the case. 3. Connect power cables – Plug cables into the motherboard, GPU, and storage devices. !Cable Management Tip: Route cables behind the case panel to keep the interior clean and improve airflow. ------------------------------ Installing the Graphics Card – The Performance Powerhouse The graphics card is installed into the PCIe slot on the motherboard. 1.
