I'm changing the color of the headlights on a Covet model in the editor, how do I save the selection so every time I pick the car it stays the same?

    Whoa where? What menu?

If you're able to take a screenshot that would be great.

Well its a floppy disk icon not a hard drive

But yep when you hit that it should save to the vehicles material permenantly. It should be right above the list of images.

Just to be clear, we're talking about:

    F11 > click on the Light.png > Inspector Menu.png > Color

Ah ok I was thinking about the materials for the actual textures, as for that I'm not entirely sure on how to save it via the editor as I'm not sure were it saves too as I'm not on my PC atm.

You need to use image editing software such as Photoshop (paid), GIMP or paint.net both of those are free and quite in depth programs. The file you need to edit will be in the selected vehicles main folder and will be called something like "car name here_c.dds" also you may need to use plugins to import the .DDS filetype in certain programs.
