Hello for all, i'm new on this game and i have some questions. For example, I have downloaded a car and in the folder, I have a lot files with differents extension (.jbeam, cached.dts,dds,tga...)

I understand that the jbeam files traduces the deformation of the cars. it can be opened by notepad (looks like C programming). The TGA and DDS are the texture files for the cars. And here comes my problem :

Where are the 3d mesh of the cars ? What's the .cached.dts file and how can i open this file if the 3d mesh is in this file ?

Some people talk to collada file, but some cars doesn't content dae files in the folder ?

Someone can to help me please ?

    Thanks you in advance

Ps: I know that the modification for a car which is downloaded by internet is illegal without permissions from the author. By consequently, i have donwloaded the car just for explore the contents of the folders and learn the differents files.

JBeam looks absolutely nothing like C. JBeam is JBeam. If you want an existing language to compare it to, its derived from JSON (which itself is not a programming language, neither is JBeam).

Cached.dts is a torque3d cached file. Ignore, it should not be humanly edited.

Mesh data is in collada .dae format. Some modders for awhile used a system of making their mod, running it on their machine so that torque3d creates the cache file and then only distributing the cached file. Torque3d would then load the cached mesh from that and the modder doesnt have to distribute the real mesh (hence preventing you from working with it). These mods no longer work properly in current BeamNG where loading the cached mesh has been disabled. Some people have had success in renaming the file to simply be <modname>.dae again, but I would still advise against attempting to edit it.

JBeam. No avoiding. Just got to learn it. It has no relation to actual programming so saying you can program in C or whatever is a useless skill.
Meshes, need 3d modelling experience. Starting with cars is a bad idea. Start at modelling cups, mugs and teapots rather than editing cars.
    Textures. Need texturing experience.

If the mod doesnt have a .dae file, simply dont play with it

Those are *very* poor quality mods, worst of all, pirate site. Speaking of which, your BeamNG.drive badge is missing, activate your account from the purchase email.

Those mods are using stock game Jbeams and meshes stolen from other games (likely forza in this one), the Jbeam and mesh dont remotely match, the mesh is usually very poorly suited to BeamNG.

It also only works in the old version of BeamNG. DOes not work in current versions. Combined with your lack of BeamNG owners badge you are slowly giving reason to believe you are a pirate.
