Hello all, please read if you're interested, and comment what you think, it means a lot! I've always been a fan of public transport, and BeamNG is a perfect game for it due to its realistic physics, graphics, and whole game performance. Sadly, the current Wentward D40, which is in-game now is very old, personally, lacking updates. So, since I use public transport every day, I made a small list that could be a suggestion for future updates (if there will be any). I know this is an old bus, and it should be supposed to look old, but updating it or making a new version would be cool. Please consider it, and make sure that (if implemented), all of these are available in free-roam, not only the bus mode. So, below is a picture of all current busses inside the game: We're currently in 2021, and public transport vehicles are getting more modern, better looking, and have more space for all the passengers using public transport. Here are a few ideas: 1. Change the windshield design The current windshield has a "line" in between that connects two smaller windows. It would be amazing if you can choose to have this type of windshield or the one that is single (there is no "line" connecting two parts), for example: Credit: Autotrolej Rijeka (MAN Lion's City buses) 2. More interior options The current interior design looks great, but when compared to other buses, it looks kinda old. The problem is, the driver is exposed to passengers, and it looks like the driver can fall from his seat at any time. Also, some seats in the bus are positioned in a way that makes less space for passengers, especially the part in the back. I'll put two pictures, the current design of seats and the design that is much prettier and could fit the bus perfectly if implemented. a) current positions: b) new interior idea: 3. Driver area improvements Current busses in BeamNG.drive have no barrier or any sort of protection for the driver. Implementing any sort of barrier would be amazing, both for passengers and drivers, and their safety. It would be amazing to make a small "window" in that protective glass, since most transports all over the world allow passengers to buy tickets from drivers, so a hole in that protective glass/barrier would allow buying of the cards, or maybe a small "desk" that is placed on a pole so that way drivers can place cards on it, while passengers pay their tickets. a) example of interior + driver's cabin (can be seen in front) b) closer look of driver's cabin: 4. Ticket "validators", stop buttons, interior lighting If there is an option to buy tickets, then passengers should be allowed to validate their tickets on special devices that can be placed in the front part of the bus (so when entering they can validate ticked quickly), or they can be placed in the vicinity doors. Also, a small, but very important detail are the stop buttons, that when pressed alert the driver that he needs to stop at the next stop. As far as lightning, it could be brighter and maybe receive a new design. a) card "validators" (device in orange) 5. Driver's cabin The current cabin is old, needs some improvements to make it more realistic. Here are some ideas: - adding buttons to activate doors - add a small window so the driver can open it - add more buttons, change the shape of the cabin - include safety glass (as said above) - add card "validators" so passengers can validate their tickets - make speedometers and other display bigger Actually, make the whole cabin more realistic and friendly for the driver. a) example of the cabin: 6. Dorrs, displays, skins, options, articulated frame The current doors are small, you can always make them bigger so that passengers have more space for going inside and exiting the bus. When we're talking about the whole look of the bus, the displays could be updated so they include the information about the route they are taking. The current display in front can support some letters, make it so that it can accept any, including more signs (such as "[bus], [bng] and [air]"). Also, instead of typing this: controller.onGameplayEvent("bus_onRouteChange", {direction="direction", routeID="42"}), make it so it can be done manually from inside a cabin or via some device, not so that you have to open the menu to insert and edit it. Include more skins, along with the articulated option of the bus, like this one: Optional: update bus stations and signs Please tell me what you think in the comments below. Thank you!
