Hi guys, maybe i don't use Beamng properly, but, why i have to drive alone? Is not possible to have other cars driving in the maps, in freeroam too? I don't know if you remember midtown madness, but that idea was great... beamng will be the perfect car game, if the map can be "alive"... Thanks for help Mark
Pretty sure you would need more than a supercomputer, even on lowest settings. (anyway, there is no way they wouldn't crash into eachother if you could)
Here's my computer specs: CPU: Intel Core i7-2600K 3.40GHz GPU: AMD Radeon HD 6950 RAM: 8.00 GB @ 1333 mhz OS: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit I'm only able to run about 5ish cars smoothly. My game crashes at 14-15 cars.
Still, there's no mass spawn option, but, if you want to spawn them quickly, use the menus while paused (j). (Unpause when you're done) This allows you to spawn more cars and avoid the laggy menus.
I love Midtown Madness, I used to play it alot when I was a kid, and it's still fun to pop in and play once in a while Also, in Beamng the AI works best with slower cars, sometimes it can't handle fast cars without crashing or spinning out
I agree that the game could use freeroaming AI that looks like civilians and probably improve optimization so that a lot can be used. But as it stands, no. There is no way to have the AI properly behave. And no way to have a lot of them without fucking up your computer.
It could be done by teleporting already existing cars to somewhere ahead of the player and randomizing their color, no need to spawn or despawn anything!
A way to do this without too much lag would be to have REALLY light traffic, and make the cars use just LODs and dont have collision when away more than 500 meters. Then, no dynamic reflection until 100 meters from the player and no collision until, lets say 10 meters from the player. The idea with cars just teleporting is good too, it would be much less intense performance-wise. But who knows, the devs have surprised us before already. Maybe thell come up with something completely different?...
