Hello everyone ! Its my first post here so sorry if its not formated perfectly. I would like to ask if it would be possible to implement interactive maps into beamng. I'm talking about maps like challenge courses where we would have moving elements that would bash into our cars, something like you have on the programme 'Total Wipeout'. If this question was already asked then sorry, i tried to reaserch it but didn't find any answers so i thought i ask Have a nice day!
I haven't seen much in terms of props moving in maps... and the one map I can think of that had moving parts, you can't hit it. Im sure with a little work from the devs (if it's not already possible) it could happen? Also, thank you for doing your research .
You can spawn items in the air, and I suppose you could have a giant hammer attached to a fixed hinge and have it spawn horizontally, so that gravity makes it swing back and forth for a while. It's a bit of a make shift solution, but with some creativity you could already make some traps. But yeah it would be awesome if you could make spinning saw blades travel from left to right and other insane stuff
Welcome to the forums and thank you for taking your time in making a non simplistic request. Sadly the maps are static in nature and the game doesn't alow for interactivity beyond lighting effects.
Thank you for your replies I would love to see maps like this I think the game is capable of having maps like that, this could even leed to introducing a new game mode which would be a sort of a challenge mod where you would have to pass through to wipe-out courses and compete with other players on leaderboards (Sorry if I make any spelling mistakes, I try to check everything I write but English is not my first language )
You can now squeez a car inside a crusher and there are no problems, the car is just crushed. And if you would be crushed on a wipe out map, the map could load again just like if you crash your car in a scenario game play
You are right about that, the crusher does have a limit but no one ever said that you cannot implement it to maps such as that , they could have an force limit there they would only crush the car to an % of damage, lets say 50 % and than the game would load again. There are many possible ways to implement such maps, I didn't mention crushing the m between walls, what I was thing off is spinners, hammers swinging like some one mentioned above or even moving platforms. There are many other features which don't have to be crushers.
Maps with interactive features. The mode thing I was talking about was a separate idea. You know what are Wipe-out courses don't you ? Im talking about something similar, not a scenario with animated props but actual physical parts on a map that can hit your car, I'm not a game developer but I thing something like this could be possible.
You don't have to be sorry I understand that for now it may not be possible but the game is still being developed and became way more advanced than before so in the future such maps could be possible We just have to wait and see what the devs will say
If someone were to create a swinging hammer prop (isn't there already a mod for this somewhere?) or some moving saw blades these could be included in a level no problem, I don't think we currently support non selectable vehicles (==props) in normal levels yet, so tabbing would give you control over these props too. But apart from that it's perfectly possible to include a few props in a level. The reason we don't include prop streetlights, guardrails, signs etc is that currently we have no way of having a very large amount of props with good performance. (keep in mind we're talking about dozens of objects here) But for a few small things it shouldn't really matter too much.
Diamond took the words out of my mouth. When you want to make a game, you usually have to keep in mind what features you wanna add before you make the game and get ideas that cannot be implemented or hardcoded. BeamNG was never made with dynamic propless maps in mind.
