I can't speak for new Audis, but Audis of the late 90s & early 00s were some of the best cars you could buy. The era of the 8L A3, B5 A4, C5 A6 and D2 A8 were FAR better styled and built than their BMW and Mercedes equivalents. My dad had a C5 A6 Avant 1.9 TDI which was my dream car to own growing up. One of my ex co-workers back in the day owned a 1999 Audi A4 1.6 litre. Not very fast, but had a very soft ride and the build quality was fantastic. Considering I was driving a rattly Rover 25 at the time, I was very jealous.
