I mean in the way that the car crashes and loses parts, such as: engine block, lights, hood, windshield, mirrors, steering wheel, seats, spoilers, (etc.) There already is a way to detach most of these objects in a crash, but deformation only doesn't feel right. I'd like to see a car deform while all sorts of (textures, or objects) come bustling out like confetti. Kind of like IIHS: HERE . If it would lag a game just do a texture like fire, so it doesn't use up too much memory. I'm not demanding anyone to do this, to, so feel free to tell me if this is possible or not.
maybe you could make this but even the most premium top of the line computer would have problems running all the little parts deforming and moving around.
maybe just different car name and do not use the same rims as the car and the emblems gotta be different and the engine might be okay being the same
But what if it was a texture, not a deformable mesh. Like the guts of the engine spilling out everywhere, like the bolts, screws, bits of metal, camshaft, forced induction, spark plug lines, caps? That kind of stuff.
nope, too much to run. Beamng already runs some good computers down. 90-95% of the platers would not be able to use this so its a waste of time. There is more important things to do atm.
Well, will we ever see things like: Engine coming out, seats breaking, dash dismantlement (STEERING WHEEL AND PEDALS AND GEAR SHIFT/EMERGENCY BRAKE ONLY), or more stuff flying off on impact?
Barstow's engine can come out at high speed crashes (because of it's frame structure) but when it comes to a mod I think it would be laggy even driving the car on low-spec systems and some laptops.
Yeah, I don't think he does... We're not talking about a real car mod, we're talking about a config, possibly, to make it easier to damage certain stock vehicles.
I find it odd that the interiors are so badly simulated. For example, the rear seats for covet only add one node which weights 6kg or something like that. Where's the realism? Adding 10 nodes to a seat shouldn't burn your pc.
Well, I read once that the engine currently only simulates metal, so any softer materials act metallic. That's why the seats in the cars sometimes get warped in unrealistic ways.
Yeah, but I think they focus more on the exterior. Crashes with multiple vehicles can cause just the normal amount of nodes to lag. I think that it would be better if it had more nodes tho.
The engine simulates plastic too, but when it breaks the mesh just "disappears". Try it for yourself on the pigeon's body, for example.
