I know it says it was manufactured in Italy but, it seems like a soviet van based on the pictures I have seen.

No. It is mostly based of two vehicles:
The Steyr-Puch Pinzgauer and the Volvo C303.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the interior is a near perfect replica of a Pinzgauer's and the exterior is a mix of both

The Soviets and their surrounding Communist states almost exclusively made their own trucks and vans, unlike their cars which were a mix of domestic and licensed Italian designs. Yugoslavia made a few Italian trucks under license though.
