Just about now, I was enjoying BeamNG when randomly seeing that the rear doors of the Sunburst had no door handles. I only looked at the Base model first, so I assumed that it was only because it was you know, the base model. But then, I saw that the other models only had 2 doors as well... I thought this was strange, I always remembered the Sunburst as a 4 door, but then I searched for it on Google and found out that it has always only had 2 doors! I was mindblown! But the major point of this thread, is why are there rear door handles on the inside of the car, but not on the outside? I don't understand it. And I can even open the rear doors! Can someone, preferrably a dev, explain why the Sunburst has this kind of "feature"? Is it common in Japan? Is it a design flaw when it comes to the dev? Thanks in advance.
1. You can normally open the rear door of the Sunburst - it has door handles! Here are they, needed to be noticed. And secondary, even if the car's 4-door and has no real handles, they can be opened by some devices.
So do you open the front doors and then reach inside to open the rear doors? Interesting, I wonder why some real life manufacturers went with that approach.
That is so strange... why would anyone even design their car that way??? But atleast my question got answered
Hmmm... I think I see why the designer decided to have the handle there. I don't know what it is called, but you know that the door curves where the wheel is supposed to go up into? Putting a handle where you would usually put it may look weird because the door is curved. Or something like that, but alteast I think I see why.
Well, basically what it is, to make it look more "sporty" it works on some cars, other cars it doesn't, but when it comes to SUVs, especially the first gen Nissan Pathfinder/Terrano, when they introduced the 4 door version, they wanted to make it appear like it was a pickup truck with a camper shell. Of course Nissan and the other car manufacturers sort of copied it, so yeah.
Im amazed by the lack of salt in this thread!. The suburst has its door handles near the C-Pillar, near where the roof, and the car join
