Is there a free program that creates terrain larger then 2048*2048?

Just wondering if anyone knows of a program that I could use since world machine only does a max of 513*513 and l3dt only does 2048* 2048.

Not aware of any specific program but I honestly think there isn't one that will give you the necessary 16 bit heightmap resolution
you'd need.....for free. I'm not a wizard on this subject so a grain or two of salt recommended.

Heightmaps can be made by hand in free paint programs though not sure the max resolution allowable.

If you get a dev version of Gimp you could use that, definitely not ideal though. Blender could be used for some things too (editing a HM that big probably won't work though).
