Im getting a new laptop and im wondering if this is a good setup for beamng drive.
    Specs down below

    Intel core i7-4720HQ Proscessor 2.6Hz
    Windows 10
    16GB DDR3 RAM
(we're replacing this) 1TB 5,400 RPM Hard Drive
    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M 4GB
    16 GB Memory
    Quad-Core
    FSB: DMI2 5GT/s

The laptop is a Acer Aspire V15 Nitro Black Edition
If im missing something important please tell me.
And if you know, tell me what FPS i would get. (Estimate if you have to)
    Thanks!

It will run it, yes. on medium-highish settings at 1080p with one vehicle you should be able to get around 60fps, probably occasionally dipping below. You will probably have fps trouble running more advanced vehicles like the the t-series or running more than one normal vehicle, probably still playable but with noticeable stuttering. These specs are pretty close to my old desktop and that was my experience.

Also just a side note, hard drive has nothing to do with game performance. It might load ever so slightly faster with a 7,200 rpm or a solid state, but if youre upgrading just because you think you need to to play games just save your money. A solid state will dramatically increase boot times and application load times for things like photoshop but other than that you wont notice much of a difference for generic day to day use.

I beg to differ. Having an SSD makes any sort of menu item react instantly, whereas on a mechanical drive there's always a noticeable latency. I can never go back to using a computer with a mechanical drive on a daily basis - it's a day and night difference in basic usability. In fact I might state the opposite of what you said: most games and large applications don't load that much faster on an SSD (BeamNG doesn't really load faster, topically), but small applications and small file operations are instantaneous. That access time is what makes the extra money so absolutely worth it.

Other than that, I agree with everything you said.

Everyones experience will be slightly different i suppose. My point was more that he shouldnt feel like he NEEDS to upgrade it, the installed hdd will work just fine for beamng and beyond. I also now run an ssd, photoshop, unity3d, blender, ect. i have noticed launched much faster. With video games i have never noticed any sort of difference, load times, start times, ect. have all seamed to stay relatively consistent which is why i brought it up that upgrading the hard drive wont make a difference for BeamNG or gaming in general. Theres always specific cases for everything, i was speaking in general terms though :)

My two cents on getting an SSD is that if you are only going to have one storage drive(?) I'd say just stick with a normal harddrive SSDs dont tend to have much space at least back when I got mine.

Yup. I got beamng installed on a sandisk extreme 120gb 6gbps ssd and my menus and load times for beamng and my maps are almost instantaneous.

well, i have an laptop with a 950m, i7 6700hq and 128gb ssd+ 1tb hdd, and I love the combination :) Boot time is fast and app start fast (Edge or word ) and you still have a lot off disk space for games and programs you don't use everyday.
I can run beam on high with 30-60 fps with 2/3 cars (depends on the map, jungle rock and eca is 25-40 with one car)

In my experience an SSD hasn't really improved BeamNG performance itself at all. Everything else kicks ass though.
