The Roamer's tailgate acts as an brick wall in terms of aerodynamics. With the tailgate on with the v8 4wd xt, it can only go slightly over 120 Mph before it gets damaged by overheating. With it removed, it can reach speeds somewhat over 135 Mph before getting damaged by overheating. The tailgate shouldn't be as much as a aerodynamic wall as it is. Unless in real life it is like that, I don't think it is supposed to create this much drag. Here is some demonstrations.

Didn't need to do a big test, all car have the same problem with the drag, just test to jump in to the water and you can see the car didn't hit the water, or drive on utah drive in wather more then 200-kmh.;)
And what is interesting, the older version was good... somewhere 0.4 - 0.5. the car damaged when hit the water with high speed.

Having watched that, the radiator looks way too weak too. In both tests it takes about 12 seconds of full throttle, with load and airflow, to push the coolant temperature into the concerning range, and the thermostat does nothing to stop the motor from cooking. Is it supposed to be like that?

Also, yes, you'd think removing the tailgate wouldn't help at all, assuming it didn't make things worse.
