A couple of months ago, I've decided to try something. I like Cities: Skylines, Italy map is my favorite in BeamNG.drive, and I thought they would be a perfect fit for each other.

TL;DR: here's the Steam Workshop link, keep reading if you want to check out the process and see some screenshots.

I've started by checking out the game files. Luckily, the game contains the heightmap file, which imported pretty much perfectly into Cities: Skylines map editor after some size adjustments.
(Side note: using the heightmaps is actually not allowed. I didn't ask beforehand because I was not planning on publishing this, but after I've finished, I liked how it looks, contacted the devs and they basically said "use of heightmaps is not entirely okay but you can publish it because we like it". If you plan something like this, you should ask beforehand.)

This is the first import after I've added a couple of roads and rivers to it.

After that, I took some existing maps, made a couple of screenshots of the minimap, combined all that and got myself an overlay which I put into Image Overlay mod, and then I started manually placing all the roads.

After the roads were done, I've started placing down some trees. That part was easier since I didn't need to be as precise.

After dealing with the trees, I've started to add some details. I wanted to keep that light, because A) it's actually pretty hard to recreate everything closely enough and B) I'm not that good at Cities: Skylines detailing. So I did some basic stuff.

(Found a better fitting color scheme in the end, finally)

And that was basically it. I've changed some stuff like the dam (gone), fort (not a fort but only a couple of walls), and edited the port's layout to work in the game.

After that, I've decided to actually play the map. Here are some of the final result screenshots:

Turns out the road layout is not super efficient in some places haha

So yeah, this is an Italy map in Cities: Skylines. Huge thanks to the devs for allowing me to publish this. Check out the Steam Workshop page, there are also more screenshots there. Thanks!
