Lats update Beamng receaved a lot in case of keyboard support and playing the game this way is a lot better experience. And the devs do a very good job at making the game better for people, who refuse to buy a steering wheel \ can't.

I was observing and saw an interesting mechanic: When you let off the throttle \ brakes, the % drop to 0. Wich results in a clunky car movement when you try apply force slowly \ not fully. So if I need to apply 80% of the gas pedal, it jumps between 80% and 0%, resulting in a grace of a cow on a dragstrip. Same with throttle.
The problem with keys is that they function like a light switch: 100 or 0.

It would be nice to have a slidder for that problem in settings. A "Throttle Smoothness Increace" and a "Throttle Smoothness Decreace".
For example: 100% - how it is currently in the game, it drops straight to 0%. 50% - and now when you let go, throttle slooowly creeps down to 0%. Bonus point: Also it could be dependable on your speed but I dont know how usefull it would be.
Also a slider that holds throttle \ brakes until one of the pedals are pressed.

The work that was done to make BeamNg on keyboard feel realistic is massive and I'm sure it will continue to improve. But I think if we received this change, keyboard would feel even better to play on.

LFS has a great solution to that – you can set the default sensitivity of keys and you can map additional filter keys for fast and slow presses, so, for example:
    • W – default speed,
    • W + Q – slower key, allowing for smoother tapping,
    • W + E – faster key, allowing for more aggressive tapping,
As a keyboard-mouse player, I'd pay for this in Beam.

Alternatively, throttle/brake stage keys would be cool, too. I'm not sure where I saw this solution, but you basically have multiple throttle keys, one for each step, for example:
    • Q – 25% throttle,
    • W – 50% throttle,
    • E – 75% throttle,
    • R – 100% throttle.
This, combined with the LFS-style filter keys, would make it as close to analog as it gets without complex assists or using a gamepad.

We don't have enough keys on the keyboard for something like this lol

I believe we do, there's a lot of two and three key combos, so I don't see why we couldn't just move switch gearbox type (arcade/realistic) to Ctrl+Shift+Q, and so on. Some more useful things are already hidden behind that.

For me personally it would be super inconvenient to move the gearbox switching into a 3 key combo. The easiest way to launch an automatic car in arcade mode is to switch to realistic, rev up and then back into arcade. Having to use 3 keys for that would be hard. Maybe 2 keys would be a good compromise.

BeamNG could also, as a part of an update, just add a function that, when you let off the gas/brake/steering on keyboard, it wouldn’t go straight to zero, but instead decrease smoothly
