A clanky old Soviet tractor, based on the likes of the MTZ-80 and similar vehicles. I've never seen a working tractor in BeamNG, so I'm hoping to make the first one (to my knowledge). This is a particularly ambitious project for a first-timer, but I'm pretty determined to finish it at some point. I have almost everything to learn, and I'd like to see how much I can do, what with the summer holidays coming up. I think there's a good chance that if I do finish this, a few years will have passed and I will have made some other mods in the meantime. When I made the model I was just having fun learning Blender, so I effectively made a carbon copy of an MTZ, but with a different grille (a bit like how vehicles in Spintires and Mudrunner avoid copyright). I do plan to make it more unique, but I'm focusing on making it functional at the moment. Progress as of thread creation: Mesh: crude, only essentials modeled so far. JBeam: basically just started, but making good progress in my opinion. Materials and textures: no. XD First development images: Progress update 11/06/2024 (don't expect these to be regular!): I have a (barely) driveable, steering prototype. Beginning the everlasting battle against beamSpring and beamDamp There won't be any more progress on the materials until a lot more functional aspects are done.
Looks great so far. Always nice to see some heavy equipment being worked on. I believe the farming pack by MRcrash introduced the first working tractors but that mod has been outdated for years now.
the farming pack still works fine (for me at least), its just some vehicles and features that are either broken or break after doing certain things
the semi truck is literally a no texture slam with the only good thing being that it has a working jbeam, steering wheel and it drives --- Post updated --- but overall the mod is good
the mod will be cool, you need a tractor in the repository What would be the idea to make a trailer for tractors?
This will be very far in the future XD but yes that's the kind of thing I'm thinking. You could probably also tow most other types of trailers, technically, since a lot of 3-point linkages have ball hitches, and maybe you could use a pintle hitch to tow a lorry trailer with a dolly? Either way, I'm still focusing on getting it driving well. It drives ok at the moment but I still need to tune the JBeam values and stop the steering wheels from collapsing and exploding the steering box. Then I need to make the cabin, add a radiator, engine cover, the other fuel tank, the doors, the seat, steering wheel, gauges, roof hatch, PTO system, 3-point linkage, and model them all and figure out materials, textures and sound, etc :')
