This is my first map. Still a work in progress. Feel free totell me what you think. I can release a beta if you want. here are some pictures The description: A perfect little island with a big mountain. very romantic, stay at the little apartment in the palm forest ,drive to the mountain , dosome rock climbing ,have a nice swim in the hot pool (the locals say there’s aperfect hot pool close to the mountain) then when you’re done have a romanticdinner near the hot pool. I’m not releasing it until the East Coast map is released soI can use the buildings from it for the village. UPDATE 10/06/2014 I did some editing from some ideas from someone who postedsome good criticism. Also I am releasing a beta so you guys can feel free toexplore the map, spot some bugs (theresa bug where your engine doesn’t cut out when you drive into water) and takephotos (please no editing) The top photo has changed to a Bruckell Moonhawk Sport nextto the hot pool I thought it would look a little romantic (don’t ask what’sgoing on in the back seat because you won’t want to know) I am going to add an airport and docks (future mod) (sorry I cant add the download zip because it wont let me)
Looks like a nice map! I'm excited to play this, I hope I can get my computer working Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Just a few suggestions: First of all, I'd suggest you tone down the post processing. In real life, the only places you're likely to see regions of pitch black are in tiny cracks, car panel seams, and other areas that are both in shadow and protected from ambient light. In your second image, almost 30% of the picture is pitch black, and a further 6% is pure white. Aim for 1% of each, and a smooth colour gradient in between. Secondly, the mountains in the first screenshot would never occur naturally. Aim for no more than 45 degree slopes, and then if you need cliffs you can 'erode' specific spots and add mesh rocks for a more authentic cliff look. Right now it's not hard to tell you've just clicked away with the terrain editor tool. The tree placement is also a bit of an issue. The palm trees are incredibly dense, which will probably cause framerate issues. Look for reference photos of real palm forests - typically they are more spread out and interspersed with other vegetation. Create the roads first and then line them with trees. Be conservative with your use of vegetation: it is wise to add trees to a map evenly and gradually until you notice it starting to affect framerate. If you don't have a real-life reference for your island, you need to draw one and plan it out before you create it. It can be tempting to dive straight into a project, but you won't get quality results without any planning. You have written a good description of the way you want the island to feel, so why don't you create a collage by taking some reference photos and arranging them around a simple hand-drawn map? You mentioned the following components: 1.) little apartment 2.) palm forest 3.) mountain drive 4.) rock climbing 5.) hot pool 6.) romantic dinner (implying a restaurant of some kind) I would treat each of these as 'biomes' on the map, which influence a theme in the area. If you can find a reference image that fits your ideal for each of these features, the quality of the map will increase tremendously.
ok seriously this comment is stupid if you don't like it don't say anything ps the romantic dinner is just a idea in the description not a element in the map I am not spending months designing it unless I want it perfect pss its just a beta it might look a little different wen I get started
But... you put this in the main post "Feel free totell me what you think" so its not stupid its what he thinks
I'd take tips from this guy, he made a really good map (Riverside Expressway, pretty sure it's called that) and he's not trying to mean, he's criticizing it, not saying it's bad. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I dont really understand..You ask people what they think, and then call them stupid for telling you what they think. B25 has made a seriously good map, and he is giving you really pertinent tips. Hes telling you how you could make your map better, and if I were you, I would follow his advice. Your map is good so far, but it could be improved
This map has potential... but if you feel the advice of B25Mitch is worthless... you might as well stop now.
Bro, have you seen the maps B25Mitch makes? He defiantly knows what he is talking about, If I were you I would take some of his advice. Especially if you say you want feedback. Good luck with the map.
I don't like you, can you call me stupid please? I will seriously endure a week to a month of being banned voluntarily if I could get you permabanned. As it is I would slap you if I met you in real life. You make something on a public forum on the internet and then call people stupid for giving constructive feedback? You can't apologize your way out of this one idiot, you've done that before. Obviously grammar, common sense, and social skills aren't your strong points. I'll gladly challenge you to trial by combat or knowledge.
