License plate serial format - Can it be changed?

Another license plate question from me (sorry). Is there any way to change the serial generation on the plates, for example, to a "123-ABC" format or a "ABC1234" format? By default it seems to be "ABC-1234" quite consistently, so I know there has to be some sort of programming behind that. However, try as I might, I cannot seem to locate it. Some help, please?

Sorry, I really hate to bump, but does anybody have an answer? I would really like to fix this issue before releasing my US plate pack, as automatically generating the correct sequence would save the mod downloaders a lot of time.

You can change the maximum amount of characters on the plate, if that's any help.
