I recently purchased a gaming rig for myself. It's a very entry level machine, but it's a huge step up in performance from my laptop, and for the stuff I do it's pretty much ideal. My current CPU is an AMD FX6300 with a stock cooler. It works fine, even if it's rather old, and runs at about 3.7-3.8 GHz. However, I was considering overclocking it, and for this I'd obviously need a much better cooler than the one I have as of now. I'm really just looking for something affordable, efficient, and compatible with an AM3+ socket. If anyone who knows more about this than I do has any reccomendations I'd really appreciate it.

Hyper 212 evo is the best way to go I had one for quite a few years on an overclocked FX 8350 and it was great. You probably wont get a massive overclock on an FX 6300 either so a 212 evo will be more than enough to cover it and it runs really quiet, especially compared to the awful stock cooler.

Its alot cheaper than a water cooler and has quite a few mounting options so will fit a range of intel and AMD platforms including AM3+.
