A few years ago I got my hands of a license in Australia that permits for me to drive unsupervised. My car a late 90's Toyota Camry uses the 1mz-fe and a 4 speed automatic. The other cars I have access all use a manual transmission. My brother is a learner driver and the car which he will come to posses is also a manual. I am able to on occasion play around with cars possessing a manual transmission. However I am prevented from doing so unsupervised which limits the amount of time I can practice. So I did some looking and discovered the Logitech G920 and its gear selector. https://www.jbhifi.com.au/games-con...iving-force-racing-wheel-for-xbox-one/746205/ https://www.jbhifi.com.au/games-con...-wheel/logitech-driving-force-shifter/746202/ I did some homework on Youtube and I got to see it in action. But I am still left with the question how faithful is the wheel and the pedals to a real car. Either in BeamNG Drive or any game for that matter, does the clutch function like a real one. Since my clutch control behind the wheel of a real care requires some practice.
Nothing alike. Motion is similar, but forces, feel etc. it is nothing alike. To get even somewhat like real car, you would practically need to build one using real car parts, add potentionmeter/load cell etc.
5 minutes in a parking lot does better job, imo. There is nothing difficult in stick shift really, just first have a good feel of biting point in parking lot, then 1st to 2nd and back to 1st shifting. You have two spinning things, motor which rpm you match to gearbox rpm and use clutch to ease it a bit. There is 0 feel of bite point in Logitech pedals, stalling is really weird compared to reality as you really can't feel forces and even engine sounds are kinda lacking in load change for these purposes. It might work as a good excuse to get a G29 wheel for fun of playing with the wheel, but it does nothing really for learning to use clutch. Pedals are even angled from wrong point, movement range is small, arc of motion tiny, there is constant weak spring, everything is different.
Well that is a heck of a shame but then again, I can quietly get my dad cars out of the drive way without him knowing But thanks fufsgfen
