So, I recently got a new screen which is a widescreen and this along with a bad gpu has been making maps like Port even a bit stop-start. What are some good low-GPU maps out there?
This is blunt but get a better GPU This game pretty much requires it. Or a small screen... That works too.
Uh... My GPU has 7.9gb of Graphics. No clue about CPU. The maps that work fine are: Garfield heights, VR City, Grid Small pure, Gridmap, and surprisingly Austrian racetrack. Most others work but are a bit stuttery. I have no choice in the matter, my father bought it.
I'm afraid that's a wrong information you looked at. Graphics card has memory (called V-RAM, as Video RAM). Not to be confused with your actual PC RAM, which are two different separate things. You need to specify your video card exact model. If you are using an Integrated Card (Intel HD Graphics), they sometimes show the VRAM amount being the same as RAM. Although keep in mind that VRAM is not an indicator of how fast a video card is. You could have 32GB of RAM and an Integrated Graphics, and it would still run slow on most games because it's a low-spec card still.
To add to this, what really matters is what's called the GPU. With a video card, you have the GPU, and dedicated video memory on an add-on card. With integrated, it is either on the motherboard (on older systems) or built into the CPU (on newer systems). Integrated graphics are generally a lot weaker than dedicated. Even an entry-level video card can often be 100%+ faster than a typical integrated GPU. That said, if you have a desktop, even getting a GeForce 1030 would likely do wonders for your performance if you're currently using integrated graphics. @Nissan patrol ST There is a good tool called GPU-Z that you can use to identify your exact GPU. Show a screenshot of what that shows you, and we can see all the information needed.
@Nissan patrol ST If at possible you should look at getting a new video card. Your current card is too weak to do much of anything honestly, and it never was a great card to begin with. A 1030 even would boost your performance by a huge amount.
Is it cheap? I only have effectively $40 at the moment 'cause i'm buying FH3 for my Xbox on my bday (as in I cant not buy it)
No, it isn't cheap. After you buy FH3, you should save up if it all possible at least $100, but $200 would be ideal. It may take a while for you to save up but it will be worth it, trust me. In the meantime, use any low detail maps like gridmap. There is also VR city, SSRB, and Endless Highway.
May I just add that I have effectively fixed the problem by making BeamNg not fullscreen but only 2/3 of the screen?
That means that screen resolution is the issue. If you went full screen at a lower res you might lag even less.
Yes, thanks for pinpointing it. Every map now works well bar E and W Coast on lower screen size. I'm using it on a shared computer with my mother and my father, but on my own account. Should I change the resolution and what to?
In BeamNG, you should try one resolution down, and if that's still laggy, go another down until you find a good balance. In theory, fullscreen (not borderless window) should lag less as the game will have more GPU resource dedicated to it.
Do it in the BeamNG options so it doesn't affect other things. Also no need to be sorry. Everyone was a noob once, and I consider it the responsibility of those more experienced to help pass along the knowledge.
