    It is just a video playing on background, it does not make huge difference to performance.

    but AFAIK the main menu isn't rendered when you are in game and its just a bunch of still pictures.

    OP has other thread about main menu lagging, so probably that is reason why asking this.

    If you mean disabling videos: already possible..
    Options > Graphics > Background > Images
    (applies next time you start the game)
