Recently, the famous painting "Ivan The Terrible Killing His Son" by Ilya Repin was vandalized by a drunken visitor of the Tretyakov Gallery. He broke a metal pole off the protective fencing and used it to smash the glass case containing the painting. The glass shattered, with shards ripping through the canvas in three spots. Original frame was damaged as well. The perpetrator is currently under arrest. According to him, he was visiting the gallery just to look at this specific painting. After wandering around the halls for some time, he went to the gallery's cafeteria for a shot of vodka - and after that, he saw the painting in a different way. The noble vandal felt bad for the czar being wrongly (in his opinion) depicted as the killer of his own child and decided to take action. Seems like the Russian reality can be more shocking and surprising than all jokes and memes about drunken Slavs combined... This kind of thing could happen anywhere. It is very well known that alcohol messes with your perception and judgement. Vodka is strong and this Russian apparently couldn't handle it. He should be ashamed.
Drunk drivers are also kind of common, which lead to many accidents. (One of the major reasons for car crashes, others include texting and driving, or speed-driving). Also, it's interesting that the painting did surround a major figure in early Russia (he used to be Ivan the Great, BTW).
