i thought this thread was nessecary because tommoro is 8th of may : victory of WWII (you guys probably already know that but oh well). So hi guys this is a thread just to share our respect for the men, women and children who lost their lives in the biggest millitary conflict in history. So just share your thoughts: My grand father lost his life in the war and i never met him.......so in memoriam mortuorum
My Great Grandfather was a pilot in WWII, I will respect them tomorrow, also, it's my friends birthday!
I may be mistaken (seeing as I'm not an Aussie/Kiwi), but I'm pretty sure Anzac day was originally WWI-related. Something about a gruesome beach landing against the Turks. Though I think it eventually became a generalized day of remembrance for fallen soldiers. On that note, the centennial should be coming up within the next few years, shouldn't it?
This year and yes, mainly ww1 related but still has ww2 and Vietnam veterans, as well as the boer war.
I agree with these guys. If we are to have any form of WW2 memorial it should be for all those who gave their lives regardless of nationality.
"It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived."- General Patton
