I'm trying to make a custom skin, but the unpainted metal panels turn out green which makes the car look bad at certain angles. I can affect the color of it in the color menu, but it also affects and ruins the skin. Is there any way to control the metal panel color independently from the actual skin?

I think you need to paint the upper left corner of the image you are editing too, if that doesnt work search how to do advanced skins.

I decided to make the skin colorable to see if that would fix it, it didn't but the issue is now different.
It now blends the 3 colors in a strange way. If I pick for example Red Blue White, it becomes a strange purple. If I had to guess it's looking at the average color over the entire car.
How do I make it only use color number 1, instead of a weird mix of all 3?
I don't understand this fully, do I put a blob of the color I want it to be in the corner? I did that, and it didn't work. This isn't mentioned in the skin tutorial btw.

OK, so the color of the frame is given by the lower left corner. (The 200BX is affected by the upper left so i thought it would be the same)
And yes, a blob of color ,enough to cover the corner.
You can see in the UV image, i left the lower left corner clear, that means i can't change the color i put in the skin texture.

This is sadly not mentioned anywhere in the two official skin tutorials, is there anywhere this (and other stuff like how to paint over the trim) is documented?

As far as I remember to paint over the trim you have to change something in the materials file, but I have also never found any documentation for it, only threads where this question was answered

I always hate when you have to look through forums for answers. Sure, it works but there's a ton of filler and the issue doesn't get solved many times.
Really hope they include solutions to issues like this, and descriptions of what everything does in the materials folder
