Most of the sites that have beamng mods stolen the mods from here. It's preferred not to promote these sites
Every site apart from the BeamNG forums will have everything listed above, there isn't more to be said.
1. Yes, but sometimes there are mods that aren't on the Beamng.drive forums that are on these websites, and you can be tempted to get them. 2. I don't understand what you are saying.
Im saying that there isnt any difference at all comparing those sites, they offer the same crappy mods and viruses, only the names are different. For safe and good mods the BeamNG forum is the only source.
BeamNG Forums and nothing else. Those other websites are trash. Especially the RuSsIaN ones, they don't give a f*ck for quality. They just: Steal, Steal, Steal, Steal and more steal. They even steal jbeams without fitting properly. You can't find quality and a safer place anywhere else than here. Sooooo, STAY ON BEAMNG FORUMS.
I highly recommend not visiting third-party websites to download mods for BeamNG, unless you want to risk obtaining low-quality mods that may be outdated or viruses masquerading as mods. Yes, there are some decent-quality mods that aren't released here (even then, they have inaccurate performances and specs), but the truth is, these third-party websites are contaminated with mods that aren't properly done (models are slapped onto existing JBeam's and the JBeam's aren't modified, resulting in bad deformation) and they tend to upload mods from the forums to their sites. In general, avoid third-party websites and stick with the official forums to get the best quality mods for BeamNG.
just recently they started doing that, I have not tried the installer but all the decent stuff is too old to really be worth going there anymore unless you know how to update it
They have done it for other Steam games too, the last time I ended up on one of these sites were for SpinTires mods. These .exe files they forcefully get you to open usually install other 3rd party programs that are a pain to uninstall. Mainly programs like ones that change your preferred search engine, adds toolbars for adverts and promotions and ones that just clog up your HDD and automatically run when Windows is started. That's why I always search on official websites, unless a good majority of the playerbase suggest good 3rd party websites that are trusted.
I once *attempted* to download a WorldOfMods mod once (I swear I won't do it again), and it downloaded, and it turned out that there was nothing but a program, which was an installer for the mod....
you need to download the one without the installer, it is under the 2 big download buttons, I don't know when they started putting an installer in the zips but it probably was for monetary reasons
up until a few months ago you clicked download and got the mod not some crapware, some company is probably paying them to put crap in the mods
It is not possible to state that any website is safe. They could change at any point in time, the web server could get infected at any time, they could accidentally upload a virus infected zip file. On the internet there is no such thing as safe. Just assurances of competency. If one of these pop up mods websites starts dishing out viruses then its not going to effect them, they could just start another under a different name. At least with BeamNG you know that they have to protect their users in order to protect themselves from the bad press. Same goes for YouTube or Google etc. Even then you still get big brands getting hacked due to incompetent security. Even if the owners of those mod websites mean well the chances are that someone could find a way to infect them in some way. On a side note, never ever use an exe based installer for a game mod from a shady website. Its just asking for bad stuff to be installed. Even if you do have anti virus software installed, just don't.
