Hey guys! As a fan of model cars, I just wanted to launch this thread and share your thoughts about model cars. I am not talking about Blender, Maya and that kind of stuff, but scale car or truck models. Show us your beautiful models! Some collect racecars, others collect classic cars... Here are my 1/18 cars! I have 3 of them: A 1966 Oldsmobile Toronadom a 1972 Opel Manta and a Citroën CX with the famous 1-spoke wheel I am planning to expand my 1/18 collection massively with more old cars soon. I'd like to have an old Citroën panel van, a Renault 4, old Mercs and old US cars. So here are my babies Sorry for the extreme low-resulution pics, but my webcam sucks... Anyway, show us what you got!
I have 3 Back To The Future model cars, a General Lee, a 1999 Craig Lowndes V8SC, a 2008 Dodge Challenger Concept, an old Ford Econoline and a F&F 3 Nissan 350z. I'll ad pics to this comment tomorrow. (Photos are in order of how they are listed above)
Hint: If your camera has a macro mode then use it. I used to have some model cars but the only actual model I remember was an aston martin vanquish, I actually played with them as a kid so they got a bit roughed up They weren't overly expensive models though.
I love the Miura (which is why i have spent time prior to this thread taking pics of it ). I also have a nice Countach model but it's black and doesn't show too well on camera. Nice idea for a thread, really like model things (trains, cars, planes etc.). Also, as stated above, try to get more defined shots via macro mode. Nice models Edit: My models have been played with (50p from a carboot sale for both Miura and Countach) and have therefor been damaged (notice the missing exhaust thing and engine window on the Miura).
@ TheFastRacer, what make is that Citroen and where did you get it? I've always wanted one but haven't seen any for sale. Nice models BTW
Thank you It's a Citroën CX from Norev. Try to take a look at carmodel.com. I am pretty sure they ship to Scotland. Btw that Miura is very nice
have few models on my shelf too (photos not mines, just for reference, but colors like on pics. maybe i take photos of my models, but half of them in not best condition - played with them when was a child ) all exept trans am and f50 was bough as assembly kits ferrari 512 bb daytona (1/24) ferrari f50 (1/24) chevy corvette c5 (1/24, 1/18. yes i have two of them in different scales) chevy corvette c2 (1/18) shelby series one (1/18) dodge viper rt/10 (1/18) pontiac firebird trans-am (1/18)
Oh I have that Ferrari F50 too. I assembled it years ago, but honestly I have it somewhere in the house collecting dust. - - - Updated - - - I got my CX from a local car store. http://www.armand-modelcars.nl. I bought it from the store in Holland, but I didn't notice you can actually order from their site and let them deliver it for you. They even ship internationally, so Scotland wouldn't be a problem. Since carmodel.com doesn't have the CX from Norev, (they hae a CX from NEO but that is fine too) I think thar this site is more useful. I am not sure if everything is in English. Just take a look there and ask for help if you need it
I like model cars too, but unfortunately I don't have a collection. Though I have like 200 Hotwheels from my childhood laying around somewhere xD. Though I am thinking of starting a real collection, but model cars are quite expensive with all the taxes in the Netherlands. I look on this site quite often for them: http://carmodelz.com/
I have a small collection of 1:18 scale and 1:24 scale models, I have a much larger collection of 1:64 scale cars. Most of them are street cars. Here are some 1:18 scale: White 1953 Corvette and a red 2009 Corvette ZR1 I will pick out a few of my favorites, try to find a good place to take their pictures, and upload them here. Great thread idea BTW .
Wow, those are very nice pictures. I love the Coke bottles on the background too, they suit the old Corvette
I have a bunch... If any of you want to see one up close then just say it and I'll post another picture
Thank you I wish my camara was a little better, here's some more cars. Green 1932 Ford Model B convertible, and a black 1932 Ford 3-window coupe. I'm not sure what scale these cars are in. And a 1970 Chevelle SS and a 1955 Chevy Pickup. This was more playing with the camera than anything else, but they are still nice cars tho. I was experimenting with some cool lighting effects in the last 2 pics, would look cool in a city setting with two muscle cars ready to race, I might have to try this in the future. The Chevelle is 1/25 scale (I think) and the truck is 1/24 scale (I think). I used to have a lot of 1/24 and 1/25 scale models and die cast cars but a good number of them were destroyed when a lighting system which illuminated them for display fell on top of them crushing several of my nicest models .
If I have some more money I will probably start my collection with this car: http://carmodelz.com/index.php/nl/autoart/autoart-1-18-porsche-356-coupe-ferdinand-1950-77946.html?# I love oldtimers so I will probably get more if I can.
