Hello all, I'm sure you know me by now. Me being me, I've wanted to create models for the game for a while and I just learned that Autodesk is a really great company and allows secondary (US highschool?) students to use their stuff for free for 36 months. Well, I'm a highschooler so I decided to look into this. Now I need help. I have 4 options: 3ds max, maya, autoCAD, and blender. I have used blender (meh) and have family that works with 3ds and AutoCAD, and I have heard great things about maya. No obvious choice here. Could people post the pros and cons here please? I have no idea which to try first! EDIT: They all have variations too. Wow. http://www.autodesk.com/education/student-software/k-12/all-products
Not sure about AutoCAD but any of the other 3 will be fine, it might also be that AutoCAD is good, never really seen it so I don't know. I'd say its just personal preference, so start using one and see if you like it.
I don't know where to ask this question, but I just bought the game. Now my computer will not open the zipped folder and will not download. What do i do?
You certainly would not ask it here. But anyways, I have no idea what you are asking. Have you tried 7-zip? @kamil I suppose I will try all of them, but there are so many options I wanted some idea of what I was doing. I think I will start with 3ds max first if no one has any objections.
None here, im trying to get to know it and have had a fairly easy time doing so(being a total noob) not much time lately to do anything more but yeah. www.digital-tutors.com or .net for tuts i found helpful.
Blender is the best as of what I know. But AutoCAD is good also, I would use Blender tho. I mean I would decide before using any program, cause you start using a program and your done like it, you'll have to switch, which can be hard.
Yeah, I don't want to get used to it, then decide to use something else. I'm also rather worried for my CPU and GPU. The CPU overheats and the GPU doesn't like heavy loads. I think I will watch videos on the workflow of the programs and see...
