Well, why not test it yourself. You already made your documents folder a network drive so you should know first hand by loading up the game perhaps?

    EDIT: NINJA'D!
EDIT 2: You can also do it another way. See this link.

The game does have issues with relocated documents folders.

Go into your BeamNG install folder, find startup.ini and change the UserPath setting, this will override where BeamNG considers the Documents/BeamNG.Drive folder is.

    For example,
if I set userpath to D:\Beam, instead of the game looking for Documents\BeamNG.Drive\mods it will look for D:\Beam\mods

For anyone who has done this, how fast are the speeds? I have a home server lying around and I need to modify the case to use an atx power supply, the proprietary one broke, and I don't know if it is worth the effort to save the space on my ssd.

That depends hugely on your home setup. If its a NAS accessed over thunderbolt 2 (a rare feature), it will be blazingly fast. If you happen to have a 10 gigabit NIC and 10 gigabit switching hardware in your home and the NAS is really a rack server with a 10 gigabit NIC, blazingly fast. If its some wireless-G setup, probably lucky to get much performance out of it at all.

I'm guessing your PC to router is wireless in which case it depends hugely on your home wireless setup. I'd recommend keeping NAS'es and machines with high network throughput on switched ethernet where possible though.

Really really hard to say, trial and error is about all you can do.

Thanks, we have wireless AC, so speeds shouldn't be a problem, but the power supply I planned to use blew a capacitor, so when I get a second one, I will test it out.
