Since I didn't find a post like this searching on the forums, I thought that I might as well start a new thread. (Note: most of this is copied verbatim from my reddit post, for those of you who may have seen it) So, while looking through some recent dev blogs on the upcoming race update, I saw the update talking about the current UI prototypes for racing. It had several interesting proposals in the comments section, but none of them mentioned a particular system that I saw in another racing game. Namely: modular UI elements. In Assetto Corsa, the developers have come up with a unique system that allows users to deeply customise the in-game racing UI to whatever they like best. This can be done by dragging individual elements called "apps" on and off screen, pinning them wherever they are desired, and choosing only the apps that are needed, as well as (as far as I can tell) allowing users to make their own UI apps. This would help immensely in allowing people to make the game their own in a sense, and would dovetail nicely with BeamNG's ethos of giving you the freedom to do whatever you want. A video of the Assetto Corsa system in action can be seen in this Youtube video, starting at approximately 1 minute, or you can check out the pictures attached. It would be fantastic if BeamNG implemented a system like this (possibly even with the capability for user-made themes and custom fonts), however I do not know enough about coding to know how viable this would be to implement. Nevertheless, this may be a good thing to discuss.
