    Hi guys!

I recently bought a 1997 Ford Escort MK7. I'm very proud on this car. The previous owners have been very careful with it. It has only done 129.000 km in 20 years, which is about 80.000 miles. It's almost nothing for it's age! It has a very smooth and reasonably powerful 1.6 petrol engine with fuel injection and 16 valves. It makes 90hp which is fast enough for me. And the manual 'box makes it fun and involving to drive.

For such an old car, the interior is in top condition! It doesn't look worn at all, the seats are nice and comfy. Only problem is that the seatbelts don't roll back nicely. It's got lots of options, like electric windows and AC. Yes, AC! In a 20 years old car! And last but not least, I am LOVING that colour. It's called Amparo Blue.

My plan is to replace the tires. Right now it's on a set of shitty Chinese tires which are completely worn out on the front axle. During my test drive in the rain it didn't took alot of throttle to spin the front tires, so pretty dangerous if you ask me. And I need to replace the cracked front bumper cover.

You guys like my car? :)

I like it! They are quite rare these days. But those Fiesta alloys need at least some Ford badge center caps.

Looks nice for its age and the colour and 2 door body style is a nice combo. I'm liking this model more and more, I still prefer the older ones but any escort is good in my books really, getting quite rare now too.

I love how the speedometer goes up to 220 km/h. As if it'll go that fast with such a small engine. But it does look pretty nice, especially for its age.

never seen that kind of car before. I don't think ford sells it in the US. Can you do a burnout in it?

That car is what our international friends would call a Ford Laser. AKA Mazda 323.

I dig it. It will either be a great commuter car as intended, or a nice little sleeper if your ok with "voiding the warranty" that no longer exists. Europe got many of the fords I really like that never made it state side. I approve.

I was going to say that before i read your comment.
There was a turbo variant called the tx3. They are pretty rare these days.

Actually, the top speed of this car is 177 according to the factory. So 180 kmh should be possible if you have the right conditions. I haven't been to Germany yet to test it out, but as soon as I have money for better tires and fuel, I will give it a go :) The Fiesta I had before this (which you can see in the background) had a 1.3 litre engine with 60hp. God it was so slow. I did manage to push out 162 kmh with it while going downhill on the German autobahn, even though the car's topspeed was only 153 km/h according to factory specs. Sadly I had to slow down due to slower traffic ahead or maybe I could have gotten close to 170 hahah. I was even racing against a VW Up! I loved it

As people said earlier, this car is a Euro spec Ford Escort. My car was made in Cologne, Germany, but I believe there were other Ford factories where the European Escorts were being made. I believe they were in the UK and Spain but I could be wrong. I'm pretty sure I could do a burnout in it hahaha. The front tires are terrible atm while the rears are pretty decent. But yeah, these cars are becoming rare today and I don't want to burn the clutch or screw my car up lol

Ford spent a lot of time failing to get the idea of economy of scale.

For example, in the 60s, instead of one 6-cylinder, you had the British Essex V6, German Cologne V6 and US Thriftpower I6.

Or not one late 70s sedan of the executive/compact size, but instead having the Euro Granada, the Aussie Falcon, the US Fairmont and the US Granada ride on separate chassis designs.
