Okay to summarize things up, I've been playing BeamNG a lot before and after the update so I wanted to give some suggestions on the walking mode. Let's start up with ideas I thought could work very well for this feature. Things that could work with walk mode: -Openable doors which open automatically once you get in or out of the vehicle; -Interactive hood, trunk, etc. with vehicle triggers; -Ability to sit in different car seats (suitable for multiplayer); -Ability to check engine oil and water levels and ability fill them up; -Ability to check tire pressure; -Ability to refuel; -Enterable buildings; -Climbable stairs. Some suggestions for the walking mode system: I'm well concerned about how the unicycle allows for the walking locomotion to work, however I'm thinking if there isn't a better solution for the walking to be more human alike as possible, then players could go inside vehicles, trailers, climb stairs and so on. 1. Making a Jbeam thin and human sized octagon, allowing for collisions, and script simple movements for it as for walking, jumping, crouching and swimming as a human would. I'm no programmer so I don't really know if this could work for BeamNG or not. 2. If the first one isn't considerable then you could make a system where you can press a button to enter either a bus, trailer or whatever you could walk inside, then make a smaller unicycle ball allowing for locomotion in small spaces. As someone who've suggested the walking feature a while ago I feel satisfied by how it turned out to be, I'm loving it and having plenty of fun and I want it to hold up to its potentials!
These are fantastic suggestions! I hope these things will be in this update or in 0.23 update, with a new revamp. Write me in PM
This is very possibly in development and might come in one of 0.22´s hotfixes or in 0.23. That´s not even simulated. We do not have fuel doors. There is refueling in the Gravity Fuel scenario though, but without getting out of the car, you just drive into a specific spot and the car automatically starts refueling. There are some, such as the Tourist Centre at Utah. Some of the stairs are climbable without any issues, some are not because other parts of the building are in the way.
I am pretty sure those are a thing. https://www.beamng.com/game/news/patch/beamng-drive-v0-22/#walking-mode-1 In this paragraph, it says that stairs are climbable. However, walking and running feel very, very slow because there is no motion blur for the sense of speed. Walking feels like an old senile man in a walker, and running feels like walking normally, just a bit faster. Also, footstep sounds would add even more immersion.
Actually most of the stairs are not climbable :/ --- Post updated --- When I said "could work with walk mode" I meant it could be a possibility, an addition. Mainly for the career mode.
Base jumping comes to mind with the walking feature. Also thought about later in development if they made it where you could salvage wrecked vehicles for add-ons. Not sure where they are going with the feature though but love the addition in the last update.
It would be some crazy stuff if in a multiplayer people could get out of the cars and be represented with 3d characters that ragdoll when others collide with them in their cars. I like the crash hard dummy because that one looses its head and limps. Be cool if they do make an avatar for the characters that can be modded with a rocket engine strapped to back. Or bat wings for gliding.
Engine oil level, probably not, but water level for the radiator is simulated since you can have rad leaks.. Maybe a trigger function under the hood which then pops up a notification indicating how much coolant there is and how much oil there is.. Once the battery and ignition stuff is better simulated, they might be able to add more stuff
