I would like to make a gearbox mod with 6 to 10+ speeds, and fully customizable, for most of the cars in the game, maybe even some mod cars or other vehicles as well. The 6 speed will have both H-Pattern and paddleshift versions, and the rest will be paddleshift only. Where can I find the gearbox files for the ETKs so they can have this mod as well as the other cars?
Code: \Steam\steamapps\common\BeamNG.drive\content\vehicles\common.zip\vehicles\common\etk_transmission.jbeam
Oh! That's where the ETK gearboxes are! I thought they were in the individual car files, not the common folder --- Post updated --- Some of the cars have weird names in the files (Which cars are the fullsize, midsize, hatch, pickup, citybus, semi, coupe, super, and van supposed to be in Beam?) --- Post updated --- And which Pessima is the pessima folder referring to? The old one, or the new one?
Fullsize = Gavril Grand Marshal, midsize = newer Pessima, hatch = Ibishu Covet, pickup = Gavril D series, citybus = Wentward (the bus), semi = Gavril T series, coupe = ?, super = ?, van = Gavril H series. pessima = older pessima
The Super is the Civetta Bolide I think --- Post updated --- Because the SBR4 is simply called "sbr" in the files --- Post updated --- The Coupe might be the Ibishu 200BX
Files that are in the 'common' folder are usually there as they're shared with 2 or more vehicles, so it would be wasteful to give each of them the same files when you can just link them to a shared folder
Also, for anyone that would like to know: autobello - Piccolina barstow - Barstow bluebuck - Bluebuck burnside - Burnside citybus - Wentward coupe - 200BX etk800 - ETK 800 etkc - K-Series etki - I-Series fullsize - Grand Marshall hatch - Covet hopper - Hopper legran - LeGran midsize - Pessima (curvy) miramar - Miramar moonhawk - Moonhawk pessima - Pessima (boxy) pigeon - Pigeon roamer - Roamer sbr - SBR4/eSBR semi - T-Series sunburst - Sunburst super - Bolide van - H-Series vivace - Vivace/Tograc
I can't find the gearbox file for the D Series --- Post updated --- And which file for the Pigeon has the gearbox code in it? Engine? --- Post updated --- I'm waiting to get all the gearbox files in their respective folders in my mod archive before I start making the gearboxes --- Post updated --- I want to make gearboxes for the electric cars (And maybe even the hybrid mods) in Beam too, but that might be a bit more complex than just a regular engine
that wouldnt really be realistic, because electric motors have so much torque that it would most likely damage the transmission overtime, unless you have a really beefy transmission which would be very costly and not needed. thats why you cant just put a forklift motor and batteries in a beetle and call it a day. you have to beef up the trans to handle the torque
The reason I want gearboxes in electric cars is because just having one gear isn't fun for me. --- Post updated --- It's more of a personal preference thing than a realism thing --- Post updated --- Not trying to be argumentative, I just want people to know this mod is more of a personal preference thing for me rather than a realism focused one
I wonder, how can I make a race manual or automatic gearbox for a vehicle that doesn't have one? The City Bus and Burnside don't have either of those... --- Post updated --- Or even a dualclutch or sequential for more modern vehicles
I've already got the Bluebuck, SBR, Piccolina, and Miramar, but I want to add fully customizable gearboxes to all the vehicles. Some vehicles don't have a gearbox/transmission/transaxle file in the main vehicle folder though, so I might need some help locating those. The new remastered LeGran, despite having race configs, doesn't have any race gearboxes... How can I add some to it?
I dont know much about modding but as far as I know you would need to create a new shiftlogic LUA file for an electric motor to work with a transmission. The normal one does not support electric motors. AFAIK.
How can I make one of those shift logic files? --- Post updated --- Sorry for being inactive for so long but sometimes I feel I need a break, or sometimes I'm doing something else
https://www.beamng.com/resources/ultrawide-aftermarket-transmission-package.10106/ Well, there's a mod that does exacly that, already. --- Post updated --- Actually not, You can use a ICE JBEAM and use a flat torque curve, since electric cars have instant max power. But anyway, i'd use it with only a manual transmission
