Hey, so I'm just getting into modding and I tried a tutorial on YouTube, but realized that it was from 2 years ago and some things might have changed so can anyone recommend a useful newer (by chance) tutorial?
BeamNG hasn't changed that dramatically enough under the hood in the past few year for modding tutorials to not apply. Almost all of my mods from 2-3 years ago still work 100% fine. The biggest thing recently to help with modding is an official blender plugin for editing Jbeam but it isn't required.
Oh, thanks! I was wondering, because I didn't see anything mentioned about it. Can I create completely new Jbeam with that plugin, because I tried creating one through Notepad++ and it worked until I tried adding the collision and selfCollision and after that nothing worked. Once there was a LUA error, which I completely missed (it was 1 am so pls dnon't judge me) and after that adding the beams didn't work either.
You can create new nodes and beams in the editor and alter positioning but all the other properties such as nodeWeight, beamSpring, collision, selfCollision, etc has to be defined in a text editor such as Notepad++. https://github.com/BeamNG/Blender-JBeam-Editor/releases
