Can anyone recommend me a video card that has 4gb video memory with 256-bits in a 100$ to 250$ range. How you distinguish the ADM Radeon series. Is Ge Force better than AMD ?
You have two main GPU-Makers, AMD and Nvidia. They both make decent cards, and they both come with their pros and cons. Read more here: http://www.techradar.com/news/compu...idia-who-makes-the-best-graphics-cards-699480 And this table is also prett good: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gpu-hierarchy,4388.html Look at reviews, benchmarks and etc. and you will get a clear idea. What's your CPU?
I always say AMDs are better under DirectX 12, Nvidias under DirectX 11. In that price span I'd say AMD, if you go higher it's probably Nvidia. RX480?
The 1060 3gb and the rx 480 4gb are great choices. For gaming, even though the 1060 doesn't have 4gb of VRAM, it's still plenty. If the rx 480 is out of budget, get the rx 470. By the way, what are your current specs?
I7 2600 Asus p8 h77-v 8gb ram Gtx 950 I was thinking about getting an other 950 gtx so i can crossfire them
That's not a good choice. The 1060 3GB is a tier lower than the 1060 6GB. It has few CUDA cores and substantially poorer performance, on top of half the VRAM. Get the 1060 6GB if you want a 1060.
But... It's about 20 bucks more. 20 bucks for about a 3℅ performance boost isn't worth it. If you do 1440p gaming the extra VRAM might help, but not 1080p. Plus, it's out of his budget.
The RX 480 4GB is a much better choice than the 3GB GTX 1060, driver updates have pushed the 480 on par or past the 1060 in the majority of games.
I bought a 1060 3GB for this reason. Rightly or wrongly I'm happy with my purchase as I can run all games at high settings smoothly at 1080p and it even runs BNG across triple monitors at normal settings. Of course the 6GB will be better but I can't see it being worth the 30£ I'd have to have spent.
I'm running a Sapphire Nitro Radeon R9 390X 8GB at 1.1GHz, I scored on Ebay, for perfect condition 240$. The 390X is a beast of a card, beating the RX 480, GTX 980, and even the GTX 1060. If you can find one for under 250 and have a heavy duty PSU, this is one of the best cards you can get, it's aimed for 1440p (2K) but can wiggle at the bottom end of 4K, and is a 1080p beast.
i recommend the 1060 and also please spend the extra 20-30 for the 6gb version. that is not a lot of money and it makes the card a little more future proof. i dont understand why you would save like 20 bucks on a graphics card - that is less than the average game costs.
I'd say go for either the RX480 or the GTX 1060 6GB, the 3GB is a much lower end card, it has lower specs in every aspect, basically a different card. Spend the extra whatever and get either the 8GB 480 or 6GB 1060.
I'll say why - on average, the 6GB version gets about 3/4 FPS more per game. That wasn't worth £30 to me.
i see, i thought the difference was bigger. but i would still feel uncomfortable buying a graphics card with only 3gb of ram at the moment since games tend to use more every year. it might be enough for now but could become a problem later on. --- Post updated --- it says above the graph that the maximum memory used was 2.3gb so of course there would not be a large difference between the 3 and 6gb versions. im thinking of future games, and there are already games that use more than 3gb vram. far cry 4 and middle earth: shadow of mordor for example can already use more than 3gb even at only 1080p resolution. even gta 5 uses more than 3gb maxed out.
You also need to take into consideration, these games are being played bare, no mods. Start playing games with mods and that memory gets used up, that's why most games call for at least 4GB of VRAM. That usually isn't a problem as most games are bare, like Call of Duty and Witcher. And really if you're building a gaming PC that isn't budget oriented why skimp on the GPU? 30 bucks is piddly when you're ready to spend 250 or more on a GPU. Another thing, just because it's new doesn't mean it's better. There are some older cards that blow the 1060 and RX 480 out of the water, the R9 390X being one, the 780 Ti being another. Shop around, just because someone says the 1060 is the best deal, or the RX 480 is better than the others doesn't mean it is. You're computer is yours, don't build it to someone else's specs I remember when I started everyone told me to get a 980, 750 Ti (Why I have no idea), RX 470, blah blah blah. I decided to go my own way, bought the 390X and do not regret it at all. I'm not steering you the wrong way, why would I? Screwing someone over the internet who I don't know isn't gonna get me anything lol. Honestly if you want the best recommendation, wait until the 1080 Ti comes out and buy that.
I had a flashed 290x that died and compared to my rx480 the difference is VERY small. nothing at 1080p will choke up either of them except the 480 uses almost half the power. get whatever you can get in that price range and you'll be set, amd or nvidia.
Where the RX 480 is slightly better is it is newer, cheaper, and uses less power. It's not a bad card, especially considering they offer a 4GB option for even cheaper
