Using the z170 chipset and using the EZ tuning wizard, chose RAID and thought it wouldn't format my shit. I get to this screen. Bios still thinks that it's not in a RAID format Me being retarded with my data. I boot up and it now it blue screens to the inaccessible boot device. My data isn't that important but I would like to have it back.
Actually what I recommended doing is booting to a live Linux USB, then copying all your data over, then resetting windows
Did you set your SATA configuration to RAID mode? Did you build a RAID array? If you built a RAID array your filesystem is gone. You would have to boot into a Linux live disc or USB and use a relatively advanced file recovery tool from then on. Why did you even want RAID with those disks? What level? Why would you think it wouldn't format them?
What screen? I don't see anything... --- Post updated --- Nvm. Just go into bios and re configure everything now
Yes! Sucess! Resetting the CMOS worked! It still wants to check the disk on boot up however. Should I keep skipping it or do it? Nothing atm seems to be working strange or corrupted.
Go ahead and let it check the disk. It might need it. It's asking because of the bsods You're welcome
That's great and all, but again, what exactly were you trying to accomplish in the first place? What was the point?
I was originally trying to use RAID 0 but without my knowledge that it formats your crap. I have a 2.5 inch laptop drive that I used and wanted them to be in 1 whole drive. I'll back up my stuff next before I go roaming around my computer without knowing whatever the hell it does.
Yeah, that's a terrible idea. Assuming the 1TB is a 7200RPM 3.5" HDD and the 500GB is a 5400RPM 2.5" HDD you're going to see little to no performance gain, as the 2.5" is likely to be approximately half as good as the 3.5", bringing the 3.5" down to its level, and then combining their performance to double back to the typical performance of the 3.5".
well i have done those stupid things before. (no data loss, just cant detect drive) i just go back to last setting and boom!
