    Oi there!

    So, I decided to start a new map for BeamNG, a coolish mountainy/grassy map.

    Right now, I have about 30 mins into it, this is about all I have
    3lZ6p.jpg

    Of course, I will be adding a coastline, roads, and even a cliff to jump off of. ;)

    This thread will be updated every day with progress pics.

    Thanks!

    (cant wait for release):rolleyes:

    QUESTION FOR MAP DEVELOPERS!

    Where do I find some good tree/brush models. I cant find any 'FREE' packs, all deh good ones are expensive. :\

    Is it placed in the ''art'' folder in your project?

    Without seeing your project it's hard to tell, load up one of the torque example levels to see how they're made.

    A quick guess though is that you don't have it plugged into the terrain layer detail slot (detail is the main texture) and instead have it in diffuse (what T3D uses to colour the terrain).

    Looks like a cool map.
    Will definitely be trying this map out when the game & map comes out.
    Good Luck with the Development of the map :)

    It worked in Empty Room, but it didn't work in Empty Terrain.

    This map should be pretty sweet. How did you get your sun and shadows to work? When I enable shadows, the whole map goes really dark. (EDIT) Don't worry found this.

    Grass question for map developers;

    I can't seem to get the right pre-set for the grass (The underbrush) so it doesn't look so boring.

    Most of the time, it looks like this;

    PROGRESS UPDATE:

    Since I made a big asset overhaul for brush and trees, etc...

    I am finishing up the main terrain layout.

    Pic of that;

    Note: This map is still very VERY early in development! I hope to have this map almost completed when BeamNG Beta comes about (Hopefully soon!)

    Thanks guys!

    Last pic of development today boys and gals

    3mOww.jpg

    Terrain is at 87% completion, I may tweak some of it for detailing purposes. Starting on textures.

    I still would like some assistance with that underbrush (grass)!

    Thanks~!

    It will look better if you use more numerous yet smaller clumps of grass and also a lot of variation. Throw in some flowers, dead grass and other stuff. Have a look at these two photos.

    For a second, I thought the 2nd pic might be the game. O_O That tells you how good the maps are. (Or how crappy real life is. :p)

    I thought the first pic was Beamng for about thirty seconds. You make some nice terrains, Hutch

    The first pic is real? Holy crap, I didn't know that until just now. This is getting too realistic.

    Don't forget to activate the anisotropic filter for that road texture. You see it gets blurrier the further you look, this filter will prevent it. You can find it in the materials editor, just select the road texture and find ''Anisotropic filter''.
