I want to build this PC:

    CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 8GB
    Motherboard: MSI A520M PRO
    RAM: 16 GB DDR4 2666 MHz
Hard drive: Toshiba 500GB HDD (or some cheap ssd to replace it idk atp)

I'm thinking this may cost about $400, maybe a little lower. How well do y'all think it will run BeamNG?

Sounds to me like a used PC for $400 might give you more performance. Building yourself at this budget is not worthwhile. Also aim for 8GB VRAM if possible

I saw a computer that was about this good for $600. I have yet to find a PC that is $400 or less that's as good as this

Guess it depends a lot on where you live, here in Germany I can find PCs with GTX 1060 and good CPU from 220€

I actually disagree with JlnPrssnr building a PC is much better bang for your buck than buying one.
plus shipping on big PC's is always as much as the PC.
I would just recommend buying a barebones Optiplex and upgrading it
    - i7-3770k $25
    - 500W PSU $50
    - 8Gb Graphics card $95
    - 16GB of RAM $15
    - Kingston SSD 240 $15
Total: $200 for a very capable PC that can BeamNG on High settings all day long and play other very intensive Modern titles no problems

I personally built one very similar in 2021. i7 3770 cheap EVGA PSU 8GB card but I already had RAM and a SSD lying around so my total was like $40 bucks back then $75 adjusted for modern prices on eBay

This is DDR3 though right? and is that a SATA SSD? I'll take a look at an older optiplex, with a 3rd gen i7 that's about 2014ish right? I had an old dell inspiron with an i3 3rd gen, 8GB of RAM, no GPU, that I used to play BeamNG on and bruh did it suck lol but yeah I'll have a look at some other computers for upgrading and thanks for the tip

no problem a budget build has always done me right for the money. even $400 you could build a very premium PC.

dont get a too old components. yes older flagship components might have a edge over modern mid tier or budget gpus, your gping to be at risk of lack of driver support and missing out on important features. but still dont really matter with new features because beng doesn't support basically any features you get in a rtx series card eg raytraced graphics, ai etc. beamng utilizes single-core, single-thread and higher sustained clock speed.
