Hmm.... sounds weird... How did you make the car, all by yourself, or through a blueprint?

If it is a port for Max Payne 3 to BeamNG.drive, then thats the problem, i think you have to redo all the outer textures... or you tried to do that? I saw that you said ''..and editing the materials.cs file...'', i think editing is not enough dough... i think you had to make it all fresh....

I'm going to try deleting the old materials in blender and making new ones

    I'm guessing there's a file somewhere overriding your materials.cs.
Where are your mod files located? In "BeamNG.drive\vehicles\yourmod" or "BeamNG.drive\mods\unpacked\yourmod.zip\vehicles\yourmod"?
If the latter, try removing "BeamNG.drive\vehicles\yourmod" if it exists.

    It lives in documents/beamngdrive/mods/brzhatch.zip/vehicles/brzhatch/files

In the material file, are the materials being called from this location?

Also compare the materials list from blender to beam and see if this material is in the list.

    Then try deleting "BeamNG.drive\vehicles\brzhatch".

There are subtle differences. The filename is different then the assigned material in blender.
    Example:
Material in blender is named HatBrz_Aa_exterior_work_001
the extracted material in the zip file is named hatbrz_aa_exterior_work_001
Does this have anything to do with it?

Yes material names are case sensitive.

ok that might be the problem.

It still says NO MATERIAL even after renaming the texture files
