The new node grabbing camera frustrates me, its now impossible to get a simple controlled crash. What I used to always do was be driving, grab a node and swing the car to the side so it would flip. It now just tears the wheels off and such, it should be an option as I said because this is the only feature that made it possible to get the certain crashes I wanted. Now I can't do that and because it's changed I do not enjoy the game very much now. Is there a way to change it back to how it was before the update? If not it should be a optional.

scroll down with the mouse button, it makes the node grabber weaker, scroll up to make it stronger 1000DPI-Optical-3D-USB-Wired-font-b-Mouse-b-font-Home-or-Office-Use-font-b.jpg

I don't think you understand, the CAMERA is the problem, it stops moving with the car and therefore tears whatever node I grabbed. With the new camera mode, it's impossible for me to do a crash that I want while moving.

I honestly hate the new separate camera now as well, whenever I am trying to drive and have my propane tank in the back of my D15, I want to explode the propane tank while driving to make the truck go flying, before, it did it just fine but now, since the camera stops, it becomes a pain just to do that. It should be optional to separate the camera for node grabbing.

I hate the new nodegrab camera system as well. Totally messes up how i play, because i like to keep the freecam at spawn so i can press f7 and get back. now i cant if i use node grab. I am still using 5.5 because of this issue.

Exactly, how did you get 5.5?

I back up the game files before I update the game.

It was intentional, meant to avoid forces build-up (i.e - cars flinging into the sky, etc.)
We will see what we can do to satisfy both parties (those who want it fixes and those who don't)

Also, personal observation, but 'Do not like' sounds much much nicer than 'hate'. There is enough of the latter in this world already.. :)

My suggestion is to make an option in the "Gameplay" section in options to disable or enable the fixed camera. I also do not like the new camera, but I have used to make some things that were not possible with the old camera.

Hopefully it can be a check box option between the static and old cam for it?

I'm wondering if it would be possible to have this with an optional "Axis lock", like 3d modelling software has. (I don't know coding or anything, this is likely considerably harder than it sounds in my head). Being able to axis lock a node grab would be great for controlled crashes, like for doing crash test simulations, or "Cannon flips"

Hey sorry to Hijack your thread, but what method did you use to make controlled crashes? I want to create crash videos but the cars are hard to control, sounds like you had a good system but I dont understand it, did you grab the node to steer the car into the crash?

I want to learn just in case the feature is added back

I don't like the new one too. I liked to tear B25's engine off while it was flying. It would be nice if this new feature was optional :)

Basically, your driving along, hold control for the nodes, I would usually turn it down to 25-35 power and grab something solid on the car (wheel, frame) and jerk it to the left or right and throw it up slightly and let go of the node, it would then start flipping and would look pretty realistic of course without actually having a force to actually flip the car over. If your having trouble and the car starts going off the road or out of control I would usually just slow the time to half real-time speed. If you just want to spin out, grab the wheel and pull it to the left or right and instead of going into the air, drag your cursor slightly into the ground to spin out. Of course you have to do it very quickly or it wont work. So yes, I would use the nodes to steer or veer the car into the crash, if you can't get side ways enough or something, the nodes really help.

We would prefer to avoid adding ton of toggles.
We will seek for a more convenient solution.

The camera has been bothering me too, glad to see I'm not the only one. I personally enjoyed experimenting with the forces build up because it allowed be to get a lot of fling force to the left or right to send vehicles into high speed rolls. I don't know how practical this may be but you could implement the different camera styles by holding the button to display nodes and then pressing the button to change the camera while it's being held.
