1. Is it normal to have more than one app at a time, for BeamNG, to be open in the task manager, when running the game? I'm presuming the first one, simply labeled 'BeamNG.drive' is the one off my Steam Account, and the one labeled 'BeamNG.drive - 0.20.1.2.10547 - RELEASE - x64', is the private, offline one; stored in my computer. (i.e. -- the one I would use if I haven't let Steam update my game to the next major version yet, and don't want to). So thinking that I didn't need the x64 version, I clicked "End Process" in the Task Manager, and the game crashed and I got this error message: Now I'm pretty sure my AV didn't block anything... it thinks it did, not knowing I'm the one who manually closed that process in the Task Manager-- so I'm not really worried about it. 2. But *HAD* it been my AV, what would have been the proper course of action? a. Disabling it entirely? or b. "White (or green) listing" BeamNG as a program, in the anti-virus' "program exceptions status"? 3. What do they mean by "UI Process"? a. Are they talking about the UI gauge control settings, in the "Esc" key-- In game menu down the left-hand column-- section of the game? b. Or are they talking about the User Interface, that controls the whole game in general?
Take the thing I will say with a grain of salt as I can't remember it that well, but if I'm not mistaken, the "BeamNG.drive (2)" is the main process/task name, where the two in the drop-down are for the UI & game itself That's to be expected as you closed the game process
Lots of applications has more than one process, which is why you would see that. Nothing to worry about. Disabling an AV is ok for a short time, to figure out if that causes the issue. However, the best thing is to put the said application on an allow list. The user interface is, put in simple turns, anything you can interact with and click on with your mouse.
--- Post updated --- Ahh thank you. Much appreciated sir. --- Post updated --- Ok, I see what you're saying. I was thinking that manually closing out the program on the task manager would simply close the program-- I didn't expect it to think that it was an anti-virus block. It just surprised me a bit... but I figured that was the case. Thank you for the replying.
