It's time for another group event! It's been a hot minute since the last one and I'd like to get back into the swing of things. So what better way to do that than with a brand new community event!?! This one should be fun, as we head to the ever popular Star Spangled Mangle this time around. I cannot wait to see what sort of amazing stunts we'll see this time! important notices will be in bold to help you see them, as there is a lot of text to look through. Here's a tl;dr version of the rules, as I've just now noticed how absurd this first post has gotten... Community event 4 Rules 1. Must use public truck 2. Track is star spangled mangle 3. ~30fps minimum 4. Must stay within racing lines; only one tire over the line is allowed 5. 2 laps around = racing 6. Going to do a poll to decide if we do 2ws or not 7. Blz engine is banned, but blz supercharger is not 8. You can tune the truck however you like minus the use of the blz insane engine. 9. Orbit cam is preferred, but if you get a cool replay and have all the events in one go as per the rules, I’ll still accept it. 10. You must do the whole event in one run; no full truck resets! 11. If you get body work or obstacle remains stuck in your truck, you can nodegrabber it out in between events. You can also use nodegrabber to try to repair the truck in between rounds if say you got the suspension or tires stuck somehow. NO REPLACING ANY PARTS AT ALL THOUGH! 12. If you want to retry anything, you need to redo your whole submission so its all in one single video clip. 13. After racing, park it up anyplace along the edge of the track or you can drive around slowly to cool the engine off if you’re running warm after racing. 14. You can reset obstacles if you ruined one in a previous run. 15. You can nodegrabber the truck to roll it back over if you fall over in any event prior to fs. 16. 2 second rollover timer; run is over if you’re on your roof for more than 2 secs to keep hacksaves from happening 17. I’d prefer you upload directly to the beam thread, but you are free to use dropbox, google drive, mediafire, etc to upload your runs. You can also upload to YouTube and I can still download them from there, but the quality will not be as good. 18. Due date by September 15; more than enough time. Event may stream that weekend for fans to judge and view! 19. See u there! ____________________________________________________________________ Actual full rules below: still important so pls dont not read the track this time will be Truck Killer: Star Spangled Mangle; Do NOT edit the track or obstacles in anyways to keep competition fair for everyone! Here's the track link if you dont already have it: https://www.beamng.com/threads/map-discussions-and-downloads.33445/page-87#post-1013469 The rules are simple, pick one truck and one truck only to be able to compete in racing, (maybe) 2wheel skills, and freestyle. All trucks are fair game as long as they do not use the game breaking 18000hp blz motor. trucks can be used from any of the truck packs found on the 'All skin and map download links!' sticky thread, along with any personal tunes you've done to the trucks. the new 10:71 blz supercharger is allowed, but if you blow up the motor at all, your runs pretty much dead, because... Brand new rule for this event special: NO TRUCK RESETS! YOU ARE TO DO THE ENTIRE SHOW (Time Trials, TWS (if voted for), and Freestyle) on a single truck! You are free to right the truck or remove debris from it with the node grabber. If you damage an obstacle in one event, you ARE allowed to reset it before the next event starts! This is the main reason I chose Star Spangled Mangle as the track of choice: it's a great racing and freestyling track without needing to load up a different version to do so! Of course you have unlimited tries to get your perfect result. this is NOT a 'you must submit your first attempt only' sort of thing. if you want to train for hours to get the perfect time trials, (possibly tws), and freestyle all-in-one run, then by all means go for it. just that if you roll over early in (tws,) freestyle, and want to redo it, you'll have to start from the beginning and re-record your racing pass. PLEASE VIEW MY EXAMPLE FILE AND YOUTUBE VIDEO IF YOU ARE CONFUSED ABOUT THIS RULE!! BEFORE YOU UPLOAD: Please make sure that your computer is capable of running beamng at a framerate of around 30fps (high 20s can be accepted if its smooth). resolution and quality settings dont matter as much, but a smoother framerate will really help in viewing experience as well as helping determine who gets the fastest time trials run. ALSO BEFORE YOU UPLOAD: NO CUSTOM OR UNBREAKABLE BODIES! this is to make sure everyone's on a level playing field and so that the forums or the video dont just get bombarded with "omg where do i get that pls give now". because you know that'll happen. CLIP SUBMISSION / EVENT ENTRY DUE DATE: September 15; in over a month. please announce which truck you would like to compete with either before or on your [first] submission post. if someone has already chosen the truck you would like to use, you must choose another one. first come first serve! there's plenty of trucks to choose from! I will be using the Voodoo Envy machine for all of my runs. it is found in the new official addon pack. Please read the rules below before asking questions about making a video or about the event. general advice: if you hit Alt+U in beam, you can hide your UI, which makes for a much cleaner video. also do not forget to mute/close apps like spotify or discord to keep their sounds from entering the video. hit Alt+U again to let your UI reappear when youre done recording. WHEN UPLOADING YOUR SUBMISSIONS: Please make sure to properly name your submission files, as it's a super big help to me when editing. it's not a requirement in order for your submission to be accepted, but it really does make a world of difference when editing the video. here's an example of how to properly name your file: gameboy3800_Voodoo_Envy_Community_Event4_submission.mp4 Racing: if you want to use a cinematic camera to give your run that realistic showcase style, that is fine. but you are free to use whatever camera mode you like. you do not need to have a timer on screen, as i am capable of adding one myself. you can use whatever lane you like; they should both be equal. use whichever lane you think you're fastest in! just make sure you are within the racing lines to be fair to everyone! no obvious corner cutting! limit of one tire over the racing lines before a time penalty will be given! and the old standard rule of getting both front tires on the jump or else a time penalty will be given always applies. →SUPER IMPORTANT TIME TRIALS NOTE: THE EVENT CALLS FOR TWO LAPS TO BE COMPLETED. IF YOU ONLY DO ONE LAP, YOUR RUN WILL NOT BE COUNTED.← Two Wheel skills may or may not be done this time around because of the tough challenge. Please vote in the poll at the top of the screen within a week of this thread being posted for you to choose if we do a TWS for this community event (only one chance to vote)! If TWS is voted to be in this event, then the rules are the same as before: youve got 3 chances to the best stunts and combos on 2 wheels or less. no real restrictions; just stay within track boundaries and have fun! although more realism is better! It may be a good idea to wait until the poll is up before recording for your submission to ensure your clip gets accepted! freestyle: free range; stay within track boundaries and do cool stuff for the full 2 minutes! remember the WOW factor too! i can add a timer on screen in video editing; you do not need to have one yourself if you dont want. IMPORTANT RULE: if you roll over and are on your roof for more than TWO seconds, your runs done. this should eliminate the 'hack saves' that some users (myself included) were guilty of. Like my previous event, I would prefer if you uploaded the video files directly onto the website, as the quality of the footage of a direct download would be way higher than if i rip it off youtube. you can upload files as big as 480ish megabytes, which should be big enough for even a full freestyle run. Mediafire, Google Drive, Dropbox, etc are also acceptable. you can still upload to youtube if you prefer. i can still rip the footage. my only other request for your uploads is that you keep it just normal truck sounds only. no copyrighted music pls! also, if you could remove the ui (Alt+U) to let the footage look cleaner that would be a big help. it is not required though. let's just have some fun with this one. i dont want to see any "this users run is invalid" or "i think i should've won". that's not the spirit. we can all get along and have a relaxing day playing some monster jam. in the end, you may even learn a thing or two by watching some other users run, and be able to give helpful tips to others to let them better their own skills! here's a tip from me: if you hit 'Q' on your keyboard, you should be able to use the realistic/manual shifting mode, which allows you to to shift way faster and pull off some incredible stunts and saves! This event will Live Streamed on my channel on September 22 2019, where you guys can leave scores for other runs as they come up! dont miss it! Disclaimer: by announcing that you will compete and by submitting clips, you agree that i can use the footage to make it a part of the video to be uploaded to my channel. of course if you have a youtube channel that you would like to get promoted, i will gladly post your youtube username and/or your beamng forum username as the driver of the truck you chose to properly give you the credit & shoutout! of course if you wish to remain anonymous, i can do that as well. if you have any questions about what any of this means or you have an issue with me using your footage in my video, then contact me directly to avoid any hassle or confusion. Here's my announcement video that maybe discusses things not said already in the post above: --- Post updated --- special request by me: absolutely not required to run in this event, but if at least one person is in an american themed truck that would make the event so much better!
